I think there's still only a small minority of AU fans who want to see Gustav gone. Most of us are willing to stick with him another season to see if he can learn from this season's glaring mistakes.

That said, it's apparent that his and Lashlee's approach to the offense this year was disastrous. I hope to see some significant changes in the staff on that side of the ball in the offseason. If he stands pat, I'll definitely be moving towards the emergency exit at the back of the Gus Bus.

Another reason for patience: it's pretty apparent that we aren't likely to hire anyone clearly better than him if we were to make a change this year, even if the speculation about Strong at UTx and Richt at UGa were to come true.

And you're right about us hiring Boom. That would such an Auburn thing to do.

I'm for giving Gus another run if he can find a QB, mainly one that can run. I don't trust him with a pocket passer at all.

This year has obviously been a disaster but there is a lot that has gone against gus statring with JJ being a headcase and losing lawson in game 1. Now that isn't to say there having been some head scratching coaching decisions this year because there have been and a lot of them.

However, all things considered, Gus should get another year to see if he can turn it around. My faith is really shattered after this year and I'm not sure he can get it turned around but he deserves the chance.

I believe in Gus and want him to stay. He will get it fixed.

My confidence in Gus, on the other hand, took a big blow this year and I am 50-50 as to whether he'll rebound.

As posted earlier.

My faith is wobbly in his ability until he can prove he makes us better than our roster alone. 50/50 is pretty fair and I agree.

But whatever % my faith in him is, I'm still solidly in favor of keeping him around a few more years. We have to eat the fact that we fired our last coach 2 years after winning a national title and I'm not about us doing the same with Gus.

Worst case, let him flat-line/stabilize us, and if we feel like there's a good year of talent for coaches out there, make a decision then.

But going back to beginning, I still think there's a chance he can put this behind him if he starts recruiting the type of players he should be.

You know, Arkansas folks were all over Frank Broyles arse for making a statement to the effect of 'you have to have a certain type of QB to run that style of offense' when Malzhan was on our staff. Turns out I believe he was right, and I just don't believe you have that QB this year. As far as defense, your style of offense (when it works) does put a lot of stress on your defense, as far as time on the field.

In hope they get rid of Gus because he's a genius.

But I enjoyed reading a post last week by Undecided that said something like, "I'm tired of so many disappointing seasons, I just want Auburn to be a consistently winning program."

Finally admitting what Aubies do not like to, their program is totally inconsistent and the 80's and mid 2000's were the peak in the terms of consistency.

Here is where i sit.

Gus has become so scared of failure, that he is failing miserably. He plays everything so conservatively that he doesnt put his players in positions to win. In fact, i can honestly say he does just the opposite. Play calling lost us the Miss St, Arkansas and Georgia games. It almost cost us the Jak St and Kentucky games as well. Hell, even in our win against aTm, we had to kick four FGs because Gus is a fuggin redzone retard.

I mean, lets be honest....How hard is it to call plays when you run the read option 75% of the time with a dynamic running Qb? Its not. Even a high school coach can do it. But actually having a vertical passing game takes skill. Gus aint got it. And dont give me that Tulsa bull shite. At Tulsa he didnt have to be accountable for shitty calls or losses. Now at Auburn he is under the gun each and every weekend. FG Gus is cracking under it
