I'm gonna guess it has more to do with LSU being so good at pass defense, but not as great at run defense. I might be making that up, but I don't think I am. Arkansas as generally been a pretty run-dominant team compared to others so maybe they just hit the weaker point of LSU's defense.

See, it's been just the opposite this season.
LSU was so good up front through 7 games, but recently, we've seen the depth issues LSU has in the front. Now I'm of the opinion that Mills coming back off injury into his spot at safety is a huge boost of confidence for the secondary, but that does not answer the very real questions we have on who that front 7 is.
Lacouture and Godchaux are very talented starters at DT. Beckwith is an excellent MLB.
Lewis Neal has performed incredibly well at DE and the frosh Key has shown flashes of Keke Mingo, but it gets rough after those guys.....quick.
To clarify, the secondary had huge busts through the first half of the season and the front performed well......I don't really understand what that means yet. I want to see this defense play against Ole Miss and TAMU before I make a judgement on it.
ETA: as an aside, I believe LSU currently has 4 scholarship linebackers. That helps to explain the issues on special teams also.

Bielema And Enos said yesterday that they don't necessarily want to be balanced in having equal pass and run plays each game but to be balanced enough to take whatever the defense is giving us.
OM was hedging against the run so we made them pay with a ton of passes. LSU was looking to prevent the same thing happening to them which opened up the run more.
