Nothing for Alabama’s first-year coach Avery Johnson will say "Welcome to college basketball" like his first true road game -- especially in UD Arena, where the Flyers have won 23 straight. Dayton forward Ryan Mikesell made five 3-pointers en route to 21 points in his freshman debut. The Flyers again look ready to soar.

Prediction: Dayton 80, Alabama 73

I'll wager Dayton -- a program URI hopes to compete with annually in A10 -- will have full house for Alabama at 1.

Dayton has a very fun and intense venue. When we played there in Gran'ts second year, I could hardly hear Chris Stewart. Of course that was the year we were ranked in the top 20 following a Georgetown loss at the last second.

Just some notes from 247

quote:

The Flyers boast a 23-game winning streak when playing at UD Arena, which is currently the ninth-longest home winning streak in the NCAA. Dayton ranked 24th nationally a season ago in average attendance with 12,718 attending 17 games.

quote:

In the Crimson Tide and Johnson's first road game of the 2015-16 season, it will face a team that has posted a 26-11 record against programs from the Power Five conferences and has won 10 of its last 13 meetings against SEC teams.

quote:

Senior guard Retin Obasohan

- On what he remembers about past games against Dayton:

"I know that Dayton's a really good team. I think they have a pretty impressive win streak at home. As much as the games have been tough in the past, they have a new team that we'll be playing against tomorrow and we have a new team. I'm excited to go in there, I'm excited to go to battle with my brothers and see what the game will be bring."

- On the national stage that Tuesday's game sets:

"It's a tremendous opportunity. We're extremely fortunate that we have that opportunity to play on ESPN, that noon game is big. But like I'll tell all of my teammates, same thing, it's just a basketball game. It's our team against their team. If we bring our best and they bring their best, it should be a good game."

Alabama has a huge test here in Dayton and will need to make every shot count in order to get the upset. We more than likely won't win, but if 'Bama somehow makes this a tight game and puts the pressure on Dayton, I think this team will be able to make some noise by mid-season. Games like these are essential young teams to get the experience of what it's like to play in a tough environment against a solid program.

Another note: when I went to the last game, we saw Retin put up a pretty good performance. If anyone pays attention to him on the bench, you also see his leadership and how much he means to the team. He's always encouraging the players, yelling at them from the bench on what to look out for, and talking to them individually. Gotta love Obasahan.

All this said, let's go Bama!! #BuckleUp

Nice jump shot by Hale there.

Dayton is denying nearly every shot that 'Bama tries when they're attacking the basket. Obasahan initially looked like he had an open lane for a layup and was completely denied. Already 3 blocks for Dayton.

We need to get some damn awareness. Stop getting shots blocked and committing dumb fouls. If you have the ball, DON'T PUSH THE DEFENDER.
