WDE, the forum insider on AUF, says people around the program aren't optimistic that Pearl will be back.

Is he actually an insider? Always got the impression he just brought paid site info over as his own but could be wrong.

But knowing AU bball luck it turns out true

My meltdown would be indescribable. With the players coming in, it would seem likely that he wouldn't consider leaving.

The only thing more pathetic than our basketball program after Barbee was fired is the fact JJ let it slip that low.

I don't care that we won an NC and played for another. The fact is several other programs have slipped considerably. frick JJ. It terrifies me to imagine what it'd take to get him fired...why the hell is his job so secure?????

Don't know, Tigerpawl. I'm skeptical myself but I'm passing it along. I've seen E vouch for him FWIW.

Memphis has always scared me when it comes to Pearl because there have seemingly been rumors they're ready to get rid of Pastner ever since we hired Pearl. And if Memphis does finally can Pastner, I think Pearl would take that job in a heartbeat.

Other than that, I'm not worried about him leaving. I don't think it's fair to starting judging Pearl's time here until Year 4, but I do want to see some significant improvement next year to be encouraged with the talent he's going to have to work with.
