Agree with the OP

But this is make-or-break if Alabama still wants to be considered the top program in the land. If Bama loses to LSU, the dynasty is over, IMO. You can't go 3 years without a national title and still be called a "dynasty"

The thing about Saban is that while he's won a lot of Titles and been amazingly successful, he's never even won consecutive SEC Championships. Since Bear Bryant, here are the coaches who have managed to win consecutive SEC Titles:

4- Spurrier
3- Dooley
3- Dye
2- Fulmer
2- Majors

Because Saban won consecutive National Titles (2011/2012), I think he gets a pass. But it is strange to award the "dynasty" label to a coach and program who can't seem to win the SEC more than just 1 time in a row.

If the dynasty is to continue, they've got to win the SEC and the National Title this year.

Nobody gives a shite what you want to "call" it. It doesn't matter if they win or lose against LSU next weekend, it doesn't "make or break" anything. As long as they are inside the top 5 year in and year out with a shot of the NC every year, who cares what it's "called". Ask any team in the nation who would they NOT want to play the most for the NC, see what they tell you.

This point is completely moot considering the level of competition and parity and the SEC compared to when the coaches you listed coached.

not simply this game. If they win this game but go on to lose to the east in the championship game I think its safe to say their dynasty died 2 years ago.
