Werner calling all the plays?

I heard a rumor that Werner called all of the plays yesterday and that's why there were more runs out of the pistol and the O play calling looked better put together and less disjointed. Did anyone else hear this reliably?

I heard Warner called some of the plays. i actually remember one point that they showed Freeze between offensive plays and his mic was up on his headset. Surprised me a little because by the time he moved it down to talk the play was already signaled in.

Ben Garrett said on his podcast Werner called the majority of the plays. Maybe Freeze should get out of the way.

Werner himself said he called the plays.

I heard 2/3 Werner and 1/3 Freeze. It was blatant Freeze didn't call that game. Too many things made sense, and not enough retard calls.

It sure helps the run game too since we got back #78 and everyone is in their natural spots, like they've been practicing all spring and fall. But whatever, more of this.

The way the plays were called made more sense too. You didn't see a overload of plays running straight at the middle of the defense. Instead, we ran a lot to the left our strong side and on the outside with the two tackles we had. A&M never had a clue what was coming. So much so that Garrett stopped rushing the passer all together.

I would love for this to be the case the rest of the season. While in my opinion Hugh is a great hc, calling plays while running a team is a very tall task and I don't think he's there yet as an elite playmaller

I don't think Hugh is a great "playmaller" either...

and that was with Werner. Could y'all imagine if we ever got a prized OC?

This. I commented to my gf (before I learned later that Werner was calling plays) that it looked like we were running stuff we'd normally never see.

Exactly. That play we kept running where Tunsil peeled down and blocked the DT and let the DE go free hasn't been part of our offense all year. Its not like Cooper couldn't have done that as well. We just never ran it like that. It worked nearly every time.
We also mixed in plays with Cooper, Patterson, and Tunsil on one side. That was gold.
This year we've used Treadwell much much better. As big and physical as String is would like to see more bubbles with him.
Auburn game is huge. We need to come out and keep the energy going. Get a win streak going.

I actually think the pistol sets were the most effective "wrinkle" out of everything. Gets the RBs running down hill or to the edge faster and is extremely effective with PA passing. Hope we keep it up.
As for the "I wish they ripped it out of the playbook, doused it with gasoline and lit it in fire" category: that jet sweep shite in short yardage was horrible!

I think they realized we need to showcase Treadwell to ensure his high draft position. This will help recruiting in the future obviously. Smart on the coaching staff Tom ten him the ball more and help his stock.
It takes away from engram more and I'm no longer sure that he will go to the draft this year.m also Tony Conner may come back as well if he doesn't get graded in the first or second round because he didn't get to finish this season.
Also respect the decision of Hugh to sit Rob nkemdiche. Player safety first.

The jet sweep and screen passes just haven't worked for us. (Well-occasionally a screen will work with Treadwell.)
Replace them with some shorter yardage crossing, curls, or out pass routes. I'd be happy if I don't see another screen pass all year-and I've been saying that since 2010. I swear the screen passes Freeze runs today were retained from the Nutt playbook.

Something I haven't seen anyone say that is my first thought is this.
To me this shows just how good of a HC Freeze is and how selfless he is. He knew that he needed help calling the plays and he passed it on to someone else. That speaks MILES about him IMO.

Werner called 1st and 2nd, Freeze called 3rd. This has always been the setup

I don't think this has been the case all season. For one its kinda stupid of Freeze to be upset with 3rd downs if he is the one calling the plays in those situations. Even if that is the case we still weren't great on 3rd down on offense. Maybe he needs to talk himself into not calling 3rd down either.
