As a board, I think we should adopt a Mexican College Football team to follow

Yes, Mexico has college football (American). It's not a new thing either, college football has been played in Mexico since 1896, when some students brought it over from the US.

What for, we already go UTSA 
Monterrey Tec is the best team year in and year out. They even cheat with a High School team in which they own and recruit players to and then sign in college.
Monterrey Tec has also already applied to become an NCAA member as a division 2 school. Don't know what the outcome was.

The NCAA voted down the chance for Monterrey Tech to join.
Looking at their league page though, they seem much more serious about this. Will update OP.

The best thing about this is it led me to a page that was so full of butthurt it made my eyes water. Mexican college football fans know how to melt. Monterrey Tech apparently was unhappy with the current ONEFA state of affairs, so they took their ball and went home, making their own league.
Someone does not appreciate this. The linked is some weird wikipedia knock off that just drips butthurt against Monterrey Tech.

I remember reading about that, or even a more recent incident of a bullet hitting a campus building from across the border only a couple of years ago.

Back in the 60's and through the late 70's Monterrey Tech used to recruit players from Texas to play on their teams. They had some very good teams back then and were absolutely schooling the other teams they played.
Somewhere in early 80's that practiced was stopped, although an occasional Texas player still plays.

Think about the Tshirt sales. Lotta green to be made by playing bigger time football in Mexico. Most DII games probably have attendance of 8-20K at best. Monterrey Tech puts about 35K in it's stadium a few times a year for big games. US teams would be big time sellouts, and tickets would not be cheap.

I wonder what scared off the NCAA? The money potential is there, especially with merchandise, TV and Radio contracts, and sponsors (coca-cola is already a jersey sponsor). Maybe the Los Zetas and Gulf Cartel violent presence? The city and suburbs are mostly quiet for a city right smack in the middle of narco country. It still sees violent crimes from time to time, but for its size, it could be a lot worse. I remember they had a cartel shootout in one of the local university that claimed lives a while back. Tec did agree to play all of their home games in the U.S. side of the border, but I guess that wasn't enough.
