So, apparently, Grier still hasn't won the starting role just yet...

...according to McElwain.

quote:

Redshirt freshman quarterback Will Grier came up big in the clutch Saturday, leading Florida on two late touchdown drives to pull out a victory over Tennessee. But those two drives, which included three fourth-down conversions on Grier completions, have not solidified his role as the starter, UF coach Jim McElwain said Monday.

“No,” McElwain said. “Those two drives at the end are what he's supposed to do. That's what you do when you play the position. We practice it that way and he executed it. There were a lot of drives there that weren't executed, so we've got a long ways to go.

It's gamesmanship at this point. Will Grier is the mother fricking QB and everyone fricking knows it, including Jim McElwain.

I'm tired of him fricking around with it though. Honestly. But hey - I won't complain if UF keeps winning

Finch doesn't like Grier, though.

That's kinda the point of all these posts about it.

"Jeff Driskel 2.0", shite like that everywhere I look with Finch.

Grier's done better on the field and off, so he's the guy.

You drive it down against Tennessee and lead a comeback down 20 - 7, you've got the job period.

I wouldn't mind restin Grier once in a while, but there is absolutely no way Harris takes the job back unless Grier really, really sucks it up.

I like Grier. He seems to be coming along nicely however, he really, really needs work on his deep ball. It's just bad. If he can get some extra work in and get that pass down we can really punish some defenses.

It would also take some pressure off him if we could run the ball more. It almost feels like we run the ball on occassion just to say we did it. If we could get some strong runs on 1st down and give him cushion on 2nd and 3rd it would help tremendously IMO.

This is really getting old. One QB leads us back to beat Tennessee while the other is suspended for smoking pot. Leadership at QB is important, and that includes leading off the field. At this point I don't care if Harris is the best QB, Grief is the best Leader and deserves to hear that from his coach. The best thing that could happen is if Harris transfers. I am tired of selfish players who care more about themselves than the team, being forgiven time after time for their actions.
Go Gators, beat Ole Miss.

I will say this... Grier is one tough mother fricker.

But at some point he may be injured or unable to play for a few series, and goddamit... Harris is going to have to be ready to go out there and play.

As much as I hate to admit it.
