There is a disturbing lack of koolaid flowing and the Ark is not floating in the fashion she is accustomed to.

1. ASU is THE ONLY INDICATOR WE HAVE on our team, and that info is now many weeks old. But in that game our defense was world class and our offense finished strong. Considering we were green as heck and it was out first game, I think our first impressions are still going to prove to be accurate.

2. Our two cupcakes since then have been nothing more than an opportunity to try many new schemes and players. A part of that is also giving other conference teams some plays to plan for that we will probably never use. The scores and nuances of these games mean NOTHING. The coaches got what they wanted out of them.

3. Look for our performance against Arky to be SIMILAR. Don't jump off any cliffs, we will do enough to win and keep our key players from getting banged up. So don't freak out when TexAgs posters tell you that "oh no!, we looked as bad as Tech" it will be meaningless.

4. We won't see what our complete team is capable of or not capable of until 10/3 vs state.

Thanks Sarge for pulling me back from the edge. I wasn't impressed with our performance against Nevada and it had me worried. I know a "W" is a "W" but we shouldn't have let them get that many points. I wondered if Chief had taken the day off or something.

I've jumped the cliff. Our O-line has gotten worse and our offense looks like it can't get going like it once used to be able to with Manziel. Remember when we used to score first a lot?

It's looking like I'm going to miss most of the Arky game this weekend (wedding... I know. I know.). At first I was pissed, but then I realized that no result will get me excited, so it's not a big deal to miss. I'd we won by 100, I still wouldn't feel like I knew anything.

Let me rephrase that.

Remember when we would strike on the first drive a lot?

I think the issue many are having is the fact that we just had a bery lackluster performance COMBINED with the fact that it now appears ASU is somewhere between below average and awful.

That week 1 win may not actually mean much, and after they play USC this week we may be saying its a bad sign we struggled as much as we did with them.

But I agree the Nevada game in and of itself doesnt mean much. They were tied with Arizona at halftime the week before and they are an above average mid-major.

The ASU defense is really exotic. They blitz so much and from so many different looks it is going to cause a lot of problems for a lot of teams. These last two weeks they played triple option teams. That is an offense that will gash a blitzing team fairly regularly. ASU offense though has been a work in progress. They are really missing the receivers from last year and the new QB is still coming along. I think they will be fine. But they won't be the type of team that the hype said they would be.

I think the fact that Kyle is very boring compared to Johnny, it makes people think that our offense isn't very good.

Nevada looked good against Arizona.

One of the Arizona teams will end up being a good team. Probably both.

I think it has more to do with the fact that he isnt as good as Johnny

I also think our coaches got so spoiled with Manziel's ability to turn any playcall into a good play that when he left they just went "well frick". I mean, how many of our called play's with Johnny succeeded AS DESIGNED? If it was even 50% I'd be shocked.

I suspect the playcalling was always an issue and nobody ever noticed because every bad playcall was a 10 yard Johnny run.
