I have to agree with you... put something out here that's wrong, and you will become crucified.

OK, based on your blueprint as it were, here's the "what" qualifications that Tanner and Spurrier (if he's involved in the process, and Holtz certainly was) would/ought to be looking for:
Recruiting prowess
Ties to the program, however cursory they may be
Good connections/recommendations among the "fraternity"
Defensive-minded, as this has typically been Carolina's identity.
Young, in that the person should want to stay here for a while
Based on that, Shane Beamer makes an awful lot of sense.
Born in Charleston, coached at GT, UTK, Miss State, USC, and Va Tech.
Primary coaching focus on defense
Experience recruiting the region, and largely responsible for the best teams we've ever had as recruiting coordinator
38 years old
Ties to the program
Plenty of connections/recommendations
The only two things he lacks that would be ideal are experience as a head coach, and the possibility/likelihood that he'd go back to VaTech in the instance that he'd be successful here when his dad retires. Though, I think that's Bud Foster's job to lose.
Not saying I think this is the most likely case, or that I even think it's the best option, but that it makes some sense in the grand scheme of things.

I somehow see tanner shitting the bed on this one.

The only thing at stake here is your e-rep. If you don't want to look stupid if someone else is hired then just say that.
But don't spout off some delusional bullshite about affecting the hiring process. Nothing you post on this backwoods board matters

I will say that the product we put on the field should probably be our primary concern. If we are worried about what we post on this website negatively impacting us then the world has gone bat shite crazy.
Oh no we are speculating on who replaces a 70 year old part time lazy coach at seasons end. The same coach who fricked himself and the program square in the arse with his disinterested comments last recruiting season. Oh, the horror.

The biggest issue is lack of head coaching experience. I'm not sure he would want to be the head coach at VT and have to deal with the legacy/shadow of his father.
Hes obviously a great coach and coordinator (he was coordinator for both recruiting and special teams when we left here) but just because you are a great coordinator doesn't mean you will be a great coach. And this is a big job to get your first head coaching experience at.
And while coordinators have been successful as first year head coaches in the SEC, Beamer still is just the running backs coach at VT. I don't think that associate head coach means much since he isn't coordinating anything
eta- I just went back and looked at the recruiting classes of 09, 10 and 11 which he was the coordinator for. Doubts are gone.
I'm officially on the hire Shane Beamer train

Do you really think Taters do not lurk here? Granted reading may be hard for them, but they probably make the effort.

No I don't. Even if they do what would it matter?
Please explain and elaborate how you anonymously posting a name for USC's not yet vacant head coaching position on a message board that gets next to zero traffic could impact the hiring process.
Seems pretty fricking far fetched

So does doing the above affect the hiring process too? Or are you just full of shite and can't come up with anything better than "taters lurk here"

Dude are you seriously melting so hard that you have to start a thread on the main board about it?
I said I would have no problem discussing it in person but did not want to discus it on a public board. Instead of accepting this and moving on you go full retard.
You have a hard on for Strong by your posts in this thread and my posts on him may have thrown some sand in your oyster but it could be I know way more about Strong / Louisville than I am willing to post here. This could be due to the serious nature of the internet or it could be I am just old fashioned and don't reveal what I actually know because that is what old people do.
I know in the age of Twit(ter) this may seem strange and foreign to you but there was a time when folks respected privacy a bit more than they do now. If you are that wound up about this just spend less time here and more time here
ps, posting on a thread by its very nature means that person is not a lurker.

a person who lurks, in particular a user of an Internet message board or chat room who does not participate.

This will probably draw laughs (as it probably should after some message board poster "confirmed" Muschamp to USC with similar info) but I've been told Jon Gruden is currently looking at properties on Lake Murray, and I'd say it's about 90-95% reliable considering who it is coming from.
But even if this is 100% accurate,
1) It could be totally unrelated - anyone know if he has any family/personal ties to SC and Columbia?
2) I'd still think if he was going to leave the MNF gig for coaching it would be for the NFL and he would have done it already.
I don't post here much and wouldn't waste my time just to stir up more bs. Just thought it was interesting and worth mentioning while we're putting our "dream hires" out there.
Cheese, definitely understand the privacy thing. Is the opportunity to pick your brain on this only reserved for longtime posters?

I remember when Tennessee fans were claiming this.

Not doubting you at all on the lake house deal. I think Gruden loves his gig now.

Agreed. Sweet gig, no pressure. Only hope we have is that he's like Spurrier and just wants another challenge.

So this has to do with privacy now?
Just stop trying to make excuses. You tried to look cool by saying you knew who was being targeted but didn't give a name, I called you on your bullshite and you've made yourself look like a damn fool trying to justify not posting a name.
And if you read this thread you would know that your comments about Strong didn't affect me and I'm on board the Shane Beamer pain train
