An honest critique of Auburn

Auburn is a solid football team, no doubt. Adding Muschamp makes them better. I don't think Auburn fans, especially the ones here, truly understand what Nick Marshall brought to the table. His running ability opened up so many damn options that it was hard to defend, especially the first year. JJ not being able to run takes away the potential for explosive plays from the qb. Auburn is not a bum by any means, but the road to get to playoffs for Auburn is just a little bit harder imo.
As I stated before, no team in the west finishes without 2 losses.

Forget his ability to run, what about his ability to pass?
Auburn is a 5 loss team this year and Louisville is 5th in the ACC

I was shocked at how little they threw Duke's way, but perhaps he was being double teamed.
And I agree on Marshall. I said something similar last week. I think Auburn's defense will be improved, while the offense will not be as dangerous as last season's. I was really impressed with Barber though.

After 1 game nothing has changed.

You should come read Auburn Sports board. We all know what Marshall brought. The Rant didn't until Saturday. However, this is one game and we shall see how the option develops under Johnson. More than Marshall's running was his mental toughness. He never let a bad play affect him.
He was ice for the most part throughout his two years.

Your critique is fair, but you mistakenly believe we discount Nick Marshall. We don't. We simply recognize we're going to be running a different look offense, which Gus has done multiple times in his career, based on the QB choice.
I can't guarantee we'll reach the playoffs or any other accomplishment, but it isn't like solid D+strong OL+power run+good WRs+big arm QB hasn't been a formula for success in the past.

Perma-ban bet you on both. In fact, I'll offer perma-ban if EITHER of those things happen, to your 2 week ban.
What say you troll?

If by easily correctable you mean teaching him to look for his colors, you are correct. Dude doesn't know how to make a read......

I still think JJ is more mobile than he has shown but not near NM's level. The bigger thing in my opinion is that JJ is not a physical runner and is hesitant about getting hit. On the first drive he kept it when he knew he could get in untouched and then later on he had that weak slide right in front of the first down. He's going to have to nut up and run the ball like he's 6'6 240lbs.

I agree about Nick. We will see about JJ.
Right now, I am of the opinion JJ will be fine and the offense will be just as effective as last year overall (just in a different manner).
Defense is improved.
Overall, we are a better and deeper team than last year. Game 1 did nothing to change my mind, actually encouraged me. JJ played poorly, but we still led by 24 in the 3rd and 21 with 4 minutes to go even after throwing 3 interceptions. Last year, 3 interceptions = 17-21 points for the other team and probably means they put up 40+ for the game. Not this year.

Troll? You can't handle the truth, and unlike you I have no alters
I respectfully decline your offer, continue being mad though. Truth hurts

Even if you are just trolling, it is still pretty weird that you constantly do it to a team that basically doesn't give a frick about your team

quote:Film study can get that fixed easily. Just breaking down the plays and showing him where better options were on the field takes care of that. It really isn't rocket science.

Agreed, I was equally frustrated with that run as I was with the int's because it was a crucial run and he was not aware of where he went down. He thought he had the first down.

Thank God there are Bama fans to explain football to everyone else's fanbase

I agree, but having JJ as the qb makes it a lot easier to match up with Auburn. Game planning for a traditional qb, even in an nontraditional system, is not as tough as it was the previous 2 years. I'm intrigued to see the Ole Miss, LSU and Aggie games for you guys. With JJ as the qb, they match up a little better than before.

Auburn will be alright. What a weird game that was though. Duke seemed to disappear for a long time in that game. There were times when I thought AU was going to blow them out and others when I though UL was going to tie it up. JJ won't throw 3 INTs every week, just like AU won't be gifted an INT on the first play of every game. It's hard to glean anything from that game other than the new RB looks to be pretty solid and Adams is really disruptive on the d-line. I probably missed some things in the game flipping channels to catch other games though.
