It's essentially a de-commit and exactly why no one should be obsessing over the whims of 16-18 year olds. We'll be fine. Don't want them here if they don't really want to be here. That was said about Kyler during his UT trip and there were some negative reaction to invoking that phrase, but it's true time and time again.

He's letting us down easy, he sees the writing on the wall with Sumlin and knows we are more likely than not to have a new coach by signing day.

It's normally not a big deal, but when literally every elite QB a program touches looks for a lifeboat it's time to pay attention.

I wouldn't go that far, normally a decommit means that something soured and the recruit is for sure going elsewhere unless something major changes (like we hire John Chavis). To me the statement reads more like if we would have lived in a world where he never committed.

The truth is I can't blame his reasoning, he earned getting courted through his hard work and I appreciate his honesty about wanting to open the process FAR in advance so we can look at other options ourselves. This is much much different than Kyler, who almost flipped last minute and put a metaphorical gun to Sumlin's head. This is the right way to do it, unlike what Kyler did.

I think Martell's still going to end up with y'all, and he'll be a solid player, but IMO he definitely has a little bit of a diva vibe.
