Johnson is only 29, it isn't unreasonable to expect 6-7 Sacks and be a rotation with some rookies

Johnson has a $15 million cap hit next year.

The Panthers can save $11 million if they cut him post June 1st.

He aint' gonna make it at $15 million for 6-7 sacks.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Stewart, Tolbert, Johnson, and Allen all gone. So we are definitely drafting an edge rusher again. CAP could be the primary back next year so I hope he is ready.

In Panther's eyes, he only is getting paid $11mil for 6-7 sacks. That $4mil is gone either way

Where would they spend that money anyways? They need OT, S, DE and WR

OT- Michael Oher was solid and Daryl Williams looked great until injury. No reason to sign a FA should go draft
S- Coleman and Harper are solid for 2017 so smart move is draft not FA
WR- There aren't any good FA WRs this year and they have Benjie/Ginn/Funchess + will likely draft somoene.
DE- No good 4-3 DEs, which is an expensive position to begin with

They should be able to resign Star & Short in 2016 while keeping Johnson. That will give them a ton of room in 2017 when Johnson falls off and their DEs are on rookie contracts
