Is this a joke or not? It doesn't appear to be funny, but different people have different senses of humor.

If something that made holding the material truly difficult were introduced, the NCAA (and NFL) would have quite a bit to say on the matter because it would give teams artificial advantages (say, make tackling more difficult) in the same way that Stickum does (for example.) The governing bodies in both cases tend to frown on creating these sorts of advantages, and rightly so. Frankly, if something like this was used and was truly effectual, I'd fully support the NCAA outlawing it and consider any wins by a team using it to be tainted.
