We've had dinner parties out in the bar and I've served both in carafes as our "house wine" and we've had wine snob friends tell us how good it is .... but we never tell them it's coming out of box until late in the party and they are always amazed.

Recently read an article where "wine experts" can't tell for shite between good wine and bad wine

I like Malbec and cab.

For boxes, Bota Box is legit and you get four bottles for $19.

Well, almost any wine connoisseur is able to differentiate between "good and bad" but I think perhaps you read an article suggesting "expensive vs inexpensive" maybe?

A wine snob will claim that any $20 bottle is better than say a $10 bottle ... twice as good even. That's definitely not the case.

Now, I promise I can tell you the blindfolded difference between, let's say, a Masseto Merlot and a Bota Box Merlot ... but for the average Joe there would not be much of a difference between a Mt. Brave Merlot (depending on the vintage) and the Bota Box even though the Mt. Brave is five or six times as much.

Most casual wine drinkers, especially Merlot drinkers, are buying in the "under $25" range and at that range there are some real steals at $10-$15.
