But Aggies are kidding themselves if they don't believe they are a distant 2nd to UT. UT won't be down for long, and the flavor of the month fans will swing back.
I'm in agreement with you and actually very much ok with this. TAMU cannot be the school of choice for the masses. It has become extremely difficult to get into A&M and our academics are tough. Our graduates go on to achieve great things in life because of their work ethic, education, and determination. Our military leaders also excel in the armed services. I'm very proud of these things and could care less if we are the choice school of the "casual fan." We have a large and passionate alumni base that has allowed our university to become what it is. If that means we are stuck at 2nd or 3rd most popular in the state then so be it.

Just FYI, buy your acceptance rates are now higher that both UNT and Texas State (around 67%). Additionally from an academic ranking standpoint you are now essentially in line with Baylor and there is a massive gulf between A&M and Texas.
I think the run of the mill A&M fan does not really understand how bad Perry has hurt the academic reputation of A&M. It is a scary situation in higher education in Texas. A&M has been falling like a stone in the national rankings the last 8 to 10 years and most of the issue can be tied to the changes instituted ate the behest of former Gov Perry.
