I see a couple of differences. Auburn had two potential first round draft picks and another potential all sec player miss at least 3 or 4 games last year with injuries or suspensions.

Carl Lawson and Alex Kozan missed the entire season. Dhaquille Williams missed 3 or 4 games. Give us those players all year and we likely don't lose 5 games

We had also had two transfers that sat out last year who played a lot at other major programs as true freshman in Austin Golson and Tray Matthews. Both will be eligible for Auburn this year

I think auburn should definitely be picked higher than us this year, at least on paper. I just don't think it should be 6 spots higher.

The only thing I know is that nobody knows what will happen in the SEC this season. Has the makings for one of the greatest football seasons ever. So many good teams in the West and what looks like a much improved/improving East.

Anyone in the SEC that tells you they are not the least bit worried about playing us this year is lying through their teeth.

If you run the numbers, the Aggies would be predicted to significantly increase the win total if Chavis can get the D into the top 80 total D.

We will see if he can but one positive factor is that we should have a respectable and deep DL.

Nah, in all seriousness, the linemen were probably selected over special teams players in order to help block for a long range field goal. With smaller players, he would have risked OT or a block field goal return for a loss. Auburn had the momentum either way. He was coaching to win.

The talent on D really isn't comparable. Auburn has a huge advantage IMO.

All I know for sure is this is shaping to be a real dogfight for the SEC West and I cannot wait to see it unfold.

Yeah. I can't really think of a divisional matchup I'm not excited to see.

I'm not worried at all, not the slightest. First off it's in tiger stadium, and secondly, I dont care how much yall think or how much yall improve on defense, our offense was hot garbage last year and we moved the ball every single possession. I think we had one three and out, I believe our offense being better than y'all's D will be the difference in the game. And if you don't think our defense and crowd won't show up wanting blood you're lying through your teeth. I expect our team to come out similar to how we came out vs bama in 2012, just like that bama game, this is personal to a lot of those guys on the defensive side of the ball.

Then you're some sort of anesthetized rock.
I can't imagine that any other team in the country who is facing a conference opponent isn't worried "in the slightest."
But hey, good on you for the supernatural confidence.

Arky and Aggy should be a telling game in the third week.

I do view Arky as probably the larger SECW threat, so most likely will be for Aggy in that one.

Don't get me wrong, anyone in the west has all the potential in the world. I'm just going to see something from them on the field to make me think otherwise. I just know that yall obviously had trouble stopping the run, yall will be much improved, but I can tell you from experience that Chavis also has trouble stopping the power run game. And unfortunately for A&M a majority of the west is a power running game. and call me crazy but I'm not sold on kyle allen, I want to be so I don't sound so damn biased, but I'm not. And please believe me when I say I'm not trying to flame, I saw the ULM game and the LSU game and those weren't his best outings, I also was shocked at his arm, it's pretty weak. He was good enough in auburn but auburn really did shoot themselves in the foot repeatedly, what are some of his better performances? Again I'm not trying to flame I just think he had a weak arm and I probably saw his worst two outings.

1. Florida fan posts a question, "Is Texas A&M being overlooked?" - check
2. Good quality debate back and forth - check
3. LSU cockroaches come out of the woodwork cause of the attention A&M is getting - check
4. Like clockwork, LSU talks bad about Chavis, posts a few gifs, dickrides Arkansas - check
5. Several non-A&M posters bring up the 5 game winning streak A&M had over LSU and then LSU just quit playing - check
6. Discussion gets back to normal football talk - check
7. LSU come back into the discussion because they absolutely can't stand the attention that A&M is getting recenlty and the fact we got Chavis (melt and decline for them is real) - check

Aggy really is dumb enough to think Chavis is something extra special.

Keep telling yourself that.

Until atm stops declining they are what they are.. An offensive team that is weak on D. You've had good defensive coaches.. It is irrelevant. You don't have enough talent or depth on D.

Chavis had a wealth of talent from day one at LSU. He was blessed lol. Atm is truly not a team to "fear"

ULMonroe gave atm all they could handle at that was a home game.

Getting back to the OP, au vs atm should be a doozy
