Well, Chavis is a good coach, and their team was really young.
Even improvement to the 70s/60s in total defense with their playmakers on offense make them a very dangerous team.
I just don't know how Chavis is going to magically make their secondary not suck and their front 7 not get pushed around. That's the big question.

I don't have a clue why your brethren decided to bring the smell of my butt into this thread

I believe they are. They should be in most games this season, especially if Allen progresses like most believe he will.
Chavis isn't a miracle worker, but the defense should improve in 2015.

Well, another factor is the lack of quality SEC QBs. Dak at this time is easily the best QB in the West, and he definitely isn't without faults.

All that means is teams will run the ball more. Teams like LSU, Bama &Auburn are going to be relentless on the ground up the middle. A&M isn't built to get into a physical slugfest. Hell, LSU wasn't able to withstand it the last few years.

I remember the 2010 arkansas defense was ranked #36 by years end. no one feared that defense but I remember feeling it was decent, but not suffocating. that offense was as potent of an offense as any. unless a&m can get a top 30 or top 25 defense it doesn't matter how potent thier offense is they won't be good enough on defense to get to the championship game. they are a year away from being able to get the kind of defense it will take to compete at that level.

You're wrong. We finally have good size on the DL and LB

The defensive talent and lack of running game is the difference between Auburn and Texas A&M.
Posted on 7/8/15 at 1:02 pm to MightyYat
True, but take LSU for example. A great running game doesn't always hide bad QB play.

this x1000 the way auburn can run the ball is the huge difference. being able to run the ball allows your defense to practice against the run which allows you to stop the run. the 2 most important things in football is running the ball and stopping the run. 2 things a&m can't do and will never be able to do with Sumlin at the helm

Why? Our OL was shite last year and should be much improved this year. We have run the ball well and even led the SEC in rushing in one of our 3 years.

You're ignorant as shite. Manziel led the SEC in rushing in 2012. Malena (rb) also had 800+ yards rushing that same exact year.

Chavis doesn't really like size. He like speed. He's not shy about saying that either.
The most important thing to his scheme is above average DB play and depth.

So because someone weighs 230 instead of 220 they now lack speed for the position? Stop being ignorant

I thought he was a great coach just a lousy recruiter....he should be able to make it work

Yeah but he didn't recruit our roster. He has to work with what he's got.
