quote:

An Orangeburg County man who shot and wounded a DEA agent during a surprise pre-dawn drug raid outside his home last fall was sentenced to eight years in prison Monday.

Just before U.S. Judge Michelle Childs passed sentence on Joel Robinson, 33, the agent Robinson shot told the judge there was no excuse for Robinson’s shooting him and that he almost lost his life.

This part though:

quote:

Mr. Robinson didn’t ask who we were,” Wilson said. “He simply launched an assault.”

If Robinson truly believed he was the subject of a home invasion, he should have called 911, Wilson said.

quote:

No drugs were found in Robinson’s house.

I'm just going to go ahead and assume you believe Robinson is in the wrong here.

Most of the drug dealers at the level where the DEA is involved don't normally keep drugs at their homes. They keep financial records. Cars. Guns. Etc....

What do I know though....

Cool selective quotes too.

I've got some as well

quote:

One Robinson lawyer, Jim Griffin, said his client had been using marijuana just before the shooting and his mind “may very well have been clouded.”

Another Robinson lawyer, Dick Harpootlian, said Robinson is not only sorry for shooting the agent but grateful the law officers surrounding his house didn’t gun him down after he shot Wilson.

Oh, and the whole running out the back door naked firing his .45 at people...

From another article:

quote:

During the raid, one set of agents banged on his door and another broke a side window. On being awakened, Robinson fired four shots at a wall by the broken window and then ran out a rear door, firing two times, according to evidence in the case.
It was a bullet from Robinson’s last two shots that struck DEA agent Wilson, who was in the back yard and who was wearing a DEA helmet and a bulletproof vest clearly marked “Police.” At that point, other agents yelled “Police!” and Robinson dropped his gun.

So early in the morning, someone breaks your window. You're gonna sit there and do nothing? He fired four shots, ran while firing two more, and that's when they yelled "POLICE!".

If they didn't identify when they no knocked his home he was in the right. The fact that they gave him time is bullshite. Wonder way the Feds didn't use their favorite toy the flash bang?

So you're saying those were his two options. Do nothing or fire a gun indiscriminately.

It looks like he had the shittiest lawyer of all time. Evidence points towards him using acceptable force for the situation, but his lawyer's defense was that he had used marijuana earlier.

shite is shady. But I definitely don't agree with no-knock raids. Anyone can yell "POLICE" and break into your home and take advantage of your trust in law enforcement.

Okay genius. Someone bangs on your door while another breaks your window. You're in bed, asleep and naked, as Robinson was.

What do you do?

Those fricking flash bangs suck as an alarm clock. Even you have to admit if the dumbasses who served this warrant didn't identify this is bs.

Well, are they 90% white guys in navy jackets with dayglo lettering and yelling "police, search warrant" like what happened here? Obviously, I pull my .45 and shoot out a window. Because that's so damn #thuglyfe

They did.

Dude was a wannabe gangster. He really is lucky he's alive from what I've been told.

He didn't just drop the gun immediately.

Not sure if the guy that told me was just fricking with me about him shooting with one hand on his junk though...
