OSU and MI have national championships stretch back each of the last three decades.

Since 1990 Auburn has had 2 undefeated seasons, a undefeated season which included a national championship and a national championship appearance. During the same period Alabama has 4 national titles.

This time period saw the SEC rise to dominance, which has lasted pretty much to the present. At the same time, the Big 10 has been extremely top heavy (to OSU's credit) and in overall decline in both entertainment value and success.

How is it ignorant to note that the trend has favored the Iron Bowl? Sure, the last 5 years brought us perhaps the greatest play in CFB history and one of the more meaningful comeback games in CFB history, but the significance isn't merely formed during that period.

It is, however, pretty ignorant not to recognize what "trend" means in this context. If UM/OSU was king prior to the referenced period, and AU/UA has caught up or exceeded during that period, the "trend" is obviously with the Iron Bowl.

Because when you look at it across time and not cherry pick years, there are ups and downs in each rivalry. Thus, when you look at each rivalry in its whole, it is clearly OSU vs MI.

I think Alabama vs Auburn has produced 11 or 12 games where each team was ranked in the top 10 and MI vs OSU has produced 18 games where both teams were ranked in the top 10.

It just happens that a game between Alabama vs Auburn being ranked in the top 10 at the same time is more recent.

Harbaugh could easily have Michigan back in the top 10 in a couple of years while OSU is in the top 10.

People always assume the current state of a program will always remain static. It NEVER has and never will. Every program goes up and down.
