Players are allowed to have contact with agents, just not accept anything of value. at Bama they have a process of bringing agents in and allowing them to talk to players on campus during their first season of draft eligibility along with a coach, a member of compliance, and the player's family. Any agent who does not want to talk under these terms is not extended the offer in the future. That's not to say players don't have the conversations outside of this process (they do), but it gives Bama a ton of cover with NCAA for having process in place to attempt to proactively deal with it.
IMO, every SEC program should use this process for dealing with agents & players. Protects the player and the program and keeps the agents very visible to everyone involved.
