My favorite argument from the flag and mascot debacles was that they were holding us back and then we proceeded to be worse the following years after we got rid of them. I agreed with getting rid of them but holding us back was terrible reasoning when there is zero evidence supporting it.

Well Colonel Reb did negatively impact us in recruiting. Tubberville said as much. But the state as a whole isn't being held back by our flag. It's our shite education system for the most part and then the lack of people willing to work.
