Hate to say it, but West Virginia might be a diamond in the rough in the future.

We are all talking about Virginia Tech and the various North Carolina schools, but they are pretty much tied down for the moment as far as bargaining power goes. West Virginia needs A LOT of polish as far as getting into the SEC in the future... but they are a State school with a lot of raw...(very raw) potential.
They fit every mold at this point except for the money-making aspect. If the SEC could change the perception of those guys and actually get them to buy into competing at a higher level (not only as a University, but also as an Athletic Department)...then I would welcome them with open arms.
I just think that they are an option. And a very smart "buy" for the SEC if nothing else. Why not consider them?

WVU is a great school but I think there are other colleges that would be a better options for the SEC. We need to poach a solid ACC school from North Carolina and Virginia to be complete, IMO.

I take it you didn't go to the WVU/AU game? Is that really a fanbase you'd want to mingle with every year?

OMG...do me a favor and attend a WVU game and observe...there's absolutely not 1 good reason for them to be an SEC school.

Would you prefer NC State? How is that any better? Not a bad choice, but at least West Virginia has a whole state to claim as their own. And they border Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Lots of connections. Philadelphia, Columbus, Cincinnati, Baltimore.

WVU fans are by far the worst fans of any college in the country. West Virginia is also the trashiest state in America. It's terrible, really.

My brother and best friend both go to WVU And I attend LSU and I by no means have inflated views of LSU. I understand it is by no means an elite academic school but after seeing WVU and their on campus and off campus facilities, LSU looked like Harvard.
