You should have to have an ID, pay some sort of income or property taxes and have at LEAST a high school diploma or equivalent.

If you were to limit voting to property owners, think about all the ways that could go wrong.

First, the value of all property would increase because not only would it have economic utility, ownership would be a requirement to vote. If you own property, that sounds good until you consider the fact that your property taxes would also increase. Also, if you want to move, you better buy another home, otherwise you are giving up your voting privilege.

This would create an incentive for the wealthy to own more property, turning the rest of us into renters rather than owners. The percentage of "average Americans" with voting privileges would decrease over time. It wouldn't happen over night, but power would be concentrated in the hands of fewer and fewer people over time, until we reach a point where we have something that resembles a feudal system.

Also, millions of old people would immediately lose their voting privileges because they don't own property, they're in nursing homes.

And you're eliminating a large number of people who simply rent condos/apartments to avoid the hassle of upkeep on a house/home.
