@Vol_Baseball: T9: Hall ranges back and makes the catch on a fly ball to center field. 3 outs.
FINAL: UT 10, SC 4
Recap coming soon.
I know you take your baseball seriously, must suck to get rekt by the worst team in the SEC

Not exactly surprising at this point that we lost this series.

We definitely blow donkey balls this season.
I personally want Chad Holbrook gone. Others disagree - but IMHO he's going to run us into the ground if we do not get rid of him in short order.
And yeah .... getting beaten by Tennessee in baseball is something that pretty much any program in the conference would not take lightly - neither do we.

Sounds similar to LSU after Skip Bertman retired. South Carolina's version of Smoke Laval.

This was partially a troll thread, but seeing as I don't follow college baseball very closely, I thought SC was still pretty damn good and so I'm kinda surprised to see this. And we won yesterday too. Really, what happened?

One thing is we lost arguably the best pitcher in the country to Tommy John surgery. The kid, Wil Crowe, is from Tennessee.
And Holbrook is awful. Man can't even fill out a proper batting order.
I, too, want him gone.
I am a USC grad and I saw nothing wrong with your post RT627. Not offended in the slightest.

Next year's going to be a lot worse too I'd reckon. No Wynkoop, Crowe, KMart, Schrock, Caldwell... good lord. I think regardless he gets next year unfortunately.

Is a perfect way to describe the program right now.

Not if we get the right coach after this season ends. SC is still a proud baseball program with some good to decent players left.
But the trigger must be pulled, now. Over and over we have been shown the longer a program waits, the worse it gets. And it is not like Holbrook is a rookie.

As many have alluded to already, that will depend on how we respond to this season.

Gilmore from Coastal Carolina would be a good choice.

Y'all need to dump CCH. USC is still at a place where they're seen by the college baseball world in the same way that an Arizona is in basketball or an Ohio State is in football. Great facilities, elite stadium, close to all that Georgia, Virginia and Florida talent along with some good in-state guys (I coached at JICHS and the dream for those kids is USC), and recent titles. Strike while the iron is hot and steal a coach from another big-conference school.

Our coaching tree is fairly fruitful. Our AD had several of them as assistants.
There are a lot of factors to consider.
1 - Holbrook and Tanner are close friends do whatever is going to happen, unfortunately, is not going to happen until next year ..... although, Ray and Skip are so close I'd be shocked if Ray has not already been on the phone talking about how he handled the Smoke situation.
2 - Monte Lee (C of C) is next in line and one of Tanner's boys but that slso might cause some issues with some of the existing long time assistants.
3 - Holbrook's buyout is hefty if the trigger is pulled before the end of next season. And Ray Tanner is so budget conscious that I just don't see him pissing away over a million bucks by pulling the trigger too early.
4 - Holbrook lost seven major players to the draft last year .... a year in which he also underachieved IMHO. That, along with injuries, has been his excuse yet his roster is full of nothing but high school all-americans that he recruited.
5 - There is a loyalty factor. Holbrook played an integral part in our NCs. He's a helluva recruiter. He just does not appear to be head coaching material.

Damn South Carolina beating us in anything is getting fewer and fewer.

I can't see Lee leaving C of C. He's turned down a couple great jobs to stay there. The best thing for USC is that CJL staying at Clemson for as long as possible. He's got no credibility in the Charleston area. He's an outstanding recruiter and knows how to sell you on a visit, but as a coach he's blowing it more and more each day.

He's turned-down other jobs because he wants the USC job and he's made that well known.
He and Holbrook have no ties. Holbrook came to SC after Monte.
But there are a couple of assistants who worked with Monte and as to whether or not Monte would retain them or would he bring his own staff with him .... who knows.
Monte is going to give it another year to see how Chad does ... if Chad if fired after next year then Monte gets the job.
