None of the backups looked good. Maybe Berks.
Printz looked to be the worst of the bunch. Happy feet. No velocity. Touch, but no fastball. Definitely didn't pass the eye test it terms of how he looked out there. No command at the line. He looks like a smaller, less good, poor mans Payton Manning.
Zanders is really athletic, but don't see that ever happening. He's waisting his time taking snaps.
Berks looked to be the best of the 3. Too bad for him he's a senior and a MO native, so the staff doesn't really care about his feelings. They'd rather accommodate the other two to keep them from transferring.
I still believe Berks got screwed here pretty bad. When he got his chance he had zero offensive line and played some really good teams.

Are you a relative of Berks, because everybody that have commented on the game that was there says that Berk looked the worst and Zanders looked the best.

I usually see things differently than most, and knowing the capacities of most, I'm more than fine with that. Berk hate is groupthink.
Berks is a big body. Big arm. Can tuck it and run. Or throw.
In a game situation where somebody has to come in and run a series while the starter is out, I'd rather it be Berks than the others. And I think he has value on short-yardage and goal-line situations.
Zanders arm is awful. It's really bad. He's a poor man's Brad Smith. Not as big. Not as good on the run. And definitely not as good throwing.
Printz and Zanders are wasting their time anyway, Lock is the next one.
If Printz was number 3 this year, he'd have transferred.
There are political motives to why he's at 2.

I respect Berks for being a true Tiger and sticking it out.

I thought both Zanders and Printz had a good day. Printz led a long drive against the #1 defense (no easy feat) and made a pretty back shoulder throw to Blair for a big gain. Was pretty accurate on almost all of his throws.
Zanders made some nice throws on the run and was also accurate in the screen game. He was flushed on one play and found Wingo about 25 yards downfield and put a strong throw right on his numbers. He had at least three drops on very catchable balls.
Maty Mauk: 9-14, 68 yards, TD (Spring Totals: 34-66, 296 yards, 3 TD, 3 INT, 95.10 rating)
Eddie Printz: 12-16, 73 yards (Spring Totals: 45-85, 259 yards, 4 INT, 69.12 rating
Marvin Zanders: 5-12, 68 yards (Spring Totals: 22-52, 262 yards, INT, 80.78 rating)
Corbin Berkstresser: 3-4, 28 yards (Spring Totals: 15-22, 119 yards, 113.62 rating)

I didn't get to watch all of the spring game but the numbers look way better than last year and I would assume they will improve once Nate Brown returns. I think Nate and Jmon will the best WR combo Mizzou has had in a long time, just maybe not this season. We have to remember for ALL the QB's, it is early and we are breaking in an entire new set of wideouts.

Doesn't sound as if Mauk improved at all then.Moore made a really nice TD catch on the sideline.

Yeah, Brown and Culkin out. Missing several RBs and not to mention McGovern and still not being settled on the OL. Also add in the fact that they were going against one of the best defenses they will face all year that pretty much knows the plays.
I agree on the WR. Still a work in progress, but Moore mad a really athletic play on the fade for the TD. Wingo looked really good for a guy new to the position and even Leftwich had a nice day. Made a good catch on the sideline and would of had two long TD catches had Mauk not missed the throws. Blair and Reese did a nice job as well.

Mauk looked ok. He kept reverting back to the spin move to get out of the pocket that got him killed all last year but for the most part seemed to be a bit more patient and made some good reads.
Printz looked by far the best of the group yesterday as he seemed to run all the plays as planned. He didn't seem to have to scramble as much as the others and made quick decisions.
Zanders only looked good on plays that broke down. He was very good at finding open receivers while on the run and getting the most of what he could. But on set plays he had a lot of trouble hitting the quick out passes and finding people early in the route tree.
Berk was only in for one series and seemed fine. I think that if MU goes into Georgia and something were to happen to both Mauk and Printz that they would put him into the game ahead of Zanders, and I am comfortable with that.
Lock will be here this fall.
QB right now is both a key point that could be the cause of MU's main struggles this fall and a position with a great amount of talented depth.

I care more about the visuals than the numbers.
Printz doesn't look the part in any way. And I've never seen a QB toe tap like he does. He looks like a QB from the 50's or something. And absolutely no velocity on his throws. Nothing.
Mauk looked visibly firmer, clearly has been eating less frozen pizzas and working out harder. So that's good. He's the only one with true zip on the ball (besides Berk).
I think in another reality Berk is the starting QB, making for a nice easy transition to another MO boy next year in Lock.
Berk doesn't get written off by the fans as a freshman things may have gone very different for him.
Pinkel and staff care about cultivating recruiting grounds in GA and FLA, which is the only reason Printz and Zanders are getting more snaps than Berk in practice.

Mauk is Mauk. I dont think he's going to regress or improve this season. whqt you see is what you get.
Berks left a sour taste in my mouth in '12 with that flat footed throwing motion and seemingly zero capability to know what to do when the pocket collapses on him.
Granted, that was a rough line to play behind that year.
I didn't get to see the game, but does he still employ the flat footed mechanics he did a few years ago? I kind of feel like that may have been a product of Yost's teaching, because JF had the same issue until he went to see the QB Guru in San Diego.
My only real gripe with Mauk is the pirouette-run backwards BS. If he would just step up, he'd have about 3 more better options than he does when he turns around and runs backwards.

I haven't watched any of the spring practices. But that's not gonna stop me.
Start Lock as a true FR. What could go wrong?

I keep waiting for Mauk to grow out of that spin move, giving up 15 yards and having to take his eyes off the down field receivers. Considering he was playing against #2 defense, wasn't convinced that some magical light switch has gone off for him. He'll be fine but he is what he is.
Printz, considering he was going against the #1 defense with nothing but backups played decent I thought.
Zanders can't throw a screen pass to save his life and as someone else said, seemed to excel when plays broke down. Saw nothing to lead me to believe he wouldn't be best served with a position change.
Berk is Berk. He'll be the best #4 QB in the SEC but that's all he'll ever be. Appreciate what he's done and how he's stuck it out, but he didn't play much and played against no name walk ons.

I still say it is stupid to not use him in goal to go situations. He is a big strong guy who can run or throw it in for a td. I do not view him as a starting caliber QB but that does not mean he is not valuable.

Wouldn't care if they tried. But not too concerned that they haven't either.

I guess I just don't get the hate for Printz. He is a very good QB that I personally, really hope doesn't transfer this summer.
I know everyone knows that Mauk set all types of records in high school, but there is only one QB on this team that was a Parade All-American HS quarterback. The same one that just missed the cut for the Elite 11 camp. That QB is Printz. Yes, Lock is an Elite 11 QB but he isn't here yet.
He was a very good QB in HS and has done nothing here but get better. To say that he doesn't look the part of a QB just seems silly.
To my eyes, the only two QBs we have that look the part in the pocket are Printz and Berk, but Mauk has a stupid good record as a starter and that is reason enough to keep him there (for now).

Take a poll of how many hate Printz. I'd imagine you're not in the minority in thinking he's solid.

Yeah, I don't think anyone hates Printz, just haven't seen enough of him.
Things could get interesting this year. The D will keep us in a lot of games, and that's a major plus.
I just can't imagine Coach Hill and Mauk watching tape and the whole -15 yard spin move going unnoticed. This is year three in his progression, that shite should have been put to bed last year. Unfortunately, when you have a team that's trying to win something it's imposible to bench your QB as a reminder to stop doing what you've been told not to do. You just can't afford too.
The progression of our QB's has been somewhat hindered by the fact that the D is legit, and of course, that the East is down.
Also, the East is down.

Berk's big army myth is laughable, he had numerous under thrown balls when he got his chance. I know the OLine was horrid but throwing balls into the ground at the feet of receivers was a common sight.
