I think it's safe to say Cam helped make Dyer the threat he was. Especially seeing how his career ended up playing out.

Cam Newton
amari cooper last season
Had Les let the badger return punts all season, just...wow
Dorsey had Auburn not been TPOS
Manziel 2012
matt Jones carrying arkansas on his back was a site to see

Cam didn't play defense. If A&M had Nick Fairley in 2012 they would have won it all. All three phases matter. When comparing the two offenses and specifically the players, Jonathan dominated Cameron's performances. Simple as that.

JFF didn't do squat in the second half against us and played bad against LSU, both being @ home.

So you're on record that Sumlin was able to have a good defense at A&M even with the offensive system he runs?

You're a fricking idiot. Cam is a Pro bowler. JFF is a high backup OB for the fricking Browns.

You need to cut out the cupcakes to find the real stats.
Congrats on JFF for absoultely dominating La Tech, SMU, SHS, & SCS. But his conference numbers are clearly worse than Newtons.

I'm also on record calling the Aggy company line of "all we need is a top 70 D to win the SEC" bullshite.

Yes...because, in no way, was Dyer a highly rated 5* running back.

Especially seeing how his career ended up playing out.
Him ending up a drugged-out retard later in his career doesn't make him less of a running back earlier in his career.

shite...got me there...COmpletely forget that Auburn's defense was terrible that year.

And to add to that:
total defense
10 Auburn #60
12 Texas A&M #58
Edit: Also 10 Auburn at least played Clemson ooc. 12 Texas A&M played no BCS teams and 2 FCS teams ooc. The West was just as strong that year as it was in 12 as well.

A lot of people do because of Fairley. Cam put that team on his back and carried them to to the BCSNC. It was quite amazing TBH.

JFF Rushing vs SEC - 698
Total yards vs SEC Cam - 2,757
Total yards vs SEC JFF - 2,987 (with one fewer game)

2010 was the strongest the SEC West has ever been. People talk about having the top three teams the next year, but Auburn, Ole Miss, and MSU weren't good that year. in 2010 Bama was 10-3 and finished freaking 4th in the West. MSU was 9-4 and 5th and both blew the hell out of their opponents in bowl games.

You're right, the West in 10 was actually stronger than it was in 12.
10
#1 Auburn 8-0
#12 Arkansas 6-2
#8 LSU 6-2
#10 Alabama 5-3
#15 Mississippi State 4-4
Ole Miss 1-7
12
#1 Alabama 7-1
#14 LSU 6-2
#5 Texas A&M 6-2
Mississippi State 4-4
Ole Miss 3-5
Arkansas 2-6
Auburn 0-8

The West in '10 was the toughest division I've ever seen, top to bottom.

That, alone, points out how great Cam Newton was when considering the talent around him and competition.

And he never lost to the legendary combination of Driskel/Muschamp @ home.

quote:Your total yards is wrong. I'm also not sure why you decided to exclude the SECCG in passing and then include it in rushing?
Cam Passing vs SEC opponents (excludes extra game in the SEC champ) - 1,303 (just over 1600 if you include the extra game)
JFF - 2,289
Cam Rushing vs SEC - 1,157 (with extra game)
JFF Rushing vs SEC - 698
Total yards vs SEC Cam - 2,757
Total yards vs SEC JFF - 2,987 (with one fewer game)
But you left out some important stats.
PASSING
JM: 8.1 ypa, 11 TDs (1.38 per game), 6 INTs (0.75 per game), 147 rating
CN: 9.2 ypa, 16 TDs (1.78 per game), 3 INTs (0.33 per game), 171 rating
RUSHING
JM: 5.45 ypc, 10 TDs (1.25 per game)
CN: 5.76 ypc, 17 TDs (1.89 per game)
RECEIVING
JM: 0 catches
CN: 2 catch, 42 yards, 21 ypc, 1 TD
TOTAL TDs
JM: 21 (2.6 per game), 19.6 plays per TD
CN: 34 (3.8 per game), 11.2 plays per TD
TOTAL YARDS
JM: 412 plays, 2987 yards, 7.25 ypp
CN: 381 plays, 2837 yards, 7.45 ypp
So even with that extra game (the one that JFF couldn't get you to with a better defense), JFF STILL was responsible for more plays. He also scored a full less TD PER GAME than Newton. Hell, Newton needed 8 LESS plays to score a TD compared to JFF. He scored a TD in 57% of the time it took JFF to score one. JFF also had a lower YPP average even tho he threw the ball 106 times more (easier to have a higher per play average on passing than rushing obviously). Oh yeah, and he also turned the ball over twice as much.
