I can almost guarantee that this played no factor in Marshall's decision. He didn't even consider that he might fail at Bama.

You have no idea what played into his decision. Yes, he got a substantial raise. He also left roughly $1.1 mill. a year on the table and supposedly an infinite recruiting budget and total control of the program.
