Like I said, I have 0% emotional investment in Newman.

Basically why I'm cautiously optimistic. This decision will come down to the final minute

Think Mickey leaving will affect Malik very much?
I remember reading an article where he was quoted as saying something to the effect that he wanted to play with a big man that could open things up for him.

It might, but LSU still has Craig Victor and heigh ceiling talents in Elbert Robinson and Aaron Epps. i think Elbert Robinson is going to surprise a lot of people next season when he's healthy

quote:Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I've mainly just been talking about the people who act as if there's no way he'll come play for MSU because theyve struggled recently and it's in "Starkghanistan."

Beat me too it. And before you start screaming "he's 6'8"," he tries to play like a guard which will hurt him in college.

It won't hurt him. SF's that can handle the ball are unstoppable.
He will not be taking either of the positions vacated in the post though, which is what that idiot was insinuating.

I was meaning I think he would be more effective if he didn't want to play guard as much and perfected some post moves, much the same way LeBron did his second year in Miami.

he's a SF in HS but it's been said a million times that he will play plenty in the paint at LSU.
he's a hybrid player. Learn more about our recruits before you try to educate people that actually follow them.
here ya go you frick
the term is "point forward" for those of you without fingers. It is a hybrid role. He will bring the ball down the floor in transition, and also post up in every game.
one more that mentions the "point forward" position.

He has no post moves right now besides jump higher than everyone and dunk it. That's what I was referring to when saying playing so much like a guard in high school will hurt him at the college level when they put him on the block. Luckily for y'all, he's got time to work on moves all summer if he wants to.

I hope that JJ tries to play him in the post.
I really hope he does.
Your second link doesn't work, and for your sake the first one would be better off if it didn't.

Plenty of players are listed incorrectly. Hell, Demarco Cox was listed as a football Guard and played Power Forward for Ole Miss.

He was a more highly touted BB recruit before he was a football recruit if I remember correctly.
That guy was 6'8"-6'9" and almost 300 lbs.
ETA: Also, if you've watched Simmons highlights at all you'd know he wasn't a post player.
