Dude,

You are still railing on me because I posted an account of something I believed factual because it has been repeated on every tour of a campus for years.

I'm sure you have never made a mistake in your life.

Dear Rant,

I am sorry that I posted something on a message board that I believed true at the time of posting that turned out to not be true. I know that I probably deserve something between the death penalty and outright banishment from the Internet, but I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.

Now, that you have my apology, what above did I post that isn't true? I linked to a media report that the Ford Foundation is threatening to pull the grant. I actually, like most Mississippians, support your Chancellor on this and believe he got screwed.

Quit sensationalizing shite and justifying it by pointing out that I have never made a mistake in my life.

I don't believe this for a second.

Where did you come up with the idea that the Ford Foundation is "serious?" Did you glean it from the article you posted or do you actually know?

So can someone give some background here? What's the deal with the Chancellor? Why did the board think they could choose new hires (that's just not how it works)? Beyond one disagreement over one hiring why does the board have issues with the Chancellor?

With the Ford Foundation saying they will pull funding and Archie Manning asking them to reconsider it sounds like there's a lot more going on. Most wouldn't care one way or another about who the chancellor is unless there's more going on or the board is seen as a political/untrustworthy/corrupt entity.
