I hear this often, but what are the other alternatives? Surely you're smart enough to not think Stalinism and other oppressive state dominated systems are the alternatives.

And why does it have to be a full 'alternative'? Why can't we just recognize the drastic and oppressive flaws in capitalism and try to attack the root of these issues for a better outcome instead of being scared to death of saying there is something wrong with capitalism and changes need to be made.

If an economic system is suppressing cures for cancer, I'm not sure 'but it's the best of the alternatives' is an appropriate stance.

I understand your question but it's baited unfortunately.

The problem therein lies that "hey, I love America, Capitalism, and our brand of democracy". I find them flawed, but if my brand of each of those were pushed out, others in this country wouldn't care for it. Some would find it too statist and oppressive and some would find it too libretarian. I doubt any would find it too socialistic, but the point being if my ideas reflected are to the public's liking they would elect me or more like me. If not, they have the ability to vote for my brand of capitalism out of power. Peacefully.

Other countries have their own brand of it and it looks differently everywhere.

I think we can look to a few different economic and ruling powers as examples in the world.

American Capitalism
European SocioCapitalism
Communist China
Socialistic Latino Democracy (whatever you want to call what Mexico and Venezuela)
Theocracies of the ME
Democracies of the ME
Tribal Democracy of Africa
Whatever Russia is.

You could argue there's more but I feel that covers the majority of them.

Obviously each has its strengths and weaknesses and I could cherry pick to make my brand of it, but of those offered, American capitalism I feel offers the greatest chance for growth, stability, multiculturalism, open exchange of ideas, freedom, best consumer prices, technology advances and opportunity for a poor Black kid from Hawaii to become president or college dropouts to create two of the biggest tech corporations in the world.

Capitalism has the issue of greed, but it's found in the hands of the producers and it doesn't directly affect the life of the common man. No they are not giving a cure for cancer to the masses, but the masses didn't have it to begin with. The problem with any other form of economics Is the Government gets in its own way and people are directly denied the cure to cancer by the corruption and greed of the government's ruling or inefficiencies. The only thing I need to point to in that is the USSR and China.
