After they realized they forgot to cut them down. Like I said, it was pretty clear in the player interviews that they weren't in on some big conspiracy to not cut them down.
But I get it. It fits your hard on for OMG KENTUCKY IS HORRIBLE. Continue to cry though while Tennessee turns down that CBI bid.
