Maybe he accepts our offer because he feels bad. It's like a mercy frick, but we will pay him 4+ mil for the pleasure.

I sent Forbes a tweet about him getting Marshall to take the Bama job and he favorited it

I wonder if those two games we've played Wichita State in the past two years could have any effect on his decision.
well we have played them 4 of the last 5 years, and the potential to play them again next season in the Orlando tournament. This time with Gregg on our bench instead, hopefully.
Hopefully he realizes during those games that we have athletes and can compete, and is doing so with Alabama HS athletes. And he has the potential to attract even better athletes... but we are just having trouble getting over the hill

So can someone gauge the general feeling of the "insiders"? Is Marshall 50%? 60%?

quote:hes gotta realize that recruiting to a school like bama is going to be way easier than to wichita state. first, tuscaloosa is a better town than anywhere in kansas. second, basketball players are sports fans too, and the football excellence and atmosphere/excitement should be a draw. third, bama's campus is fantastic and is much nicer the WSU. Fourth, he will have whatever recruiting budget he needs to get guys from wherever so hes not going to be limited to alabama for talent. Fifth, the females in alabama are a million times hotter than in kansas.

ce on BOL who seems to be trusted with hoops info says that we still have work to do, and without going in to detail, it's a family decision.
Sounds to me that Mrs. Marshall or his kids need convincing. I wonder if Benjamin can convince them to get on board.

@ccbama @HeatherDThomas1 @LJSLaw if Marshall doesn't work out where are we headed with Shaka and Barnes headed elsewhere?

@AppreciatesNick @HeatherDThomas1 @LJSLaw I predict we'll never know, so I won't answer.
For all of you who dont understand the twitterz, Cary Clark is saying that he also feels optimistic we land Marshall. Someone asks him who do you think might be our backup plan. Cary Clark answers that we will never know, meaning that he is that confident we land Marshall.

Who is Cary Clark and why does his opinion matter?

True, and hes already proven he CAN WIN which should only help him more.

Never been so I cant agree/disagree. Wichita doesn't look half bad though and its much larger than tuscaloosa.

probably true but UA still has some outdated buildings that needed to be demo'd a while ago...sports & practice facilities we are probably way ahead of them though.

I feel like this is somewhat true, if we are going to offer him 4+ mil as its been reported, then we are going to have to make up for it in other areas, whether its different sports budget or somewhere in basketball program

Marshall has built programs at Winthrop and Wichita State and can do the same at Alabama...RTR!

Not sure how good Scarb's sources are because he is such a Bama troll, but he posted an article that he seems to have gotten the inclination that today was a good day.

I certainly hope so. I need to get back to being a productive member of society, not checking for updates every five minutes

The same could be said for all of us I'm sure.

You don't pay a coach Top 5 salary and promise him a major commitment to basketball then cut his budget. We have the money to do this without making cuts.

s--t, Okie State is considering firing Travis Ford, and the story is it's a 50/50 proposition despite his $9.6 million buyout. That's another big fish we don't want to have in the market.
