As for tackling, Cyrus and EJ might be 'bout equal, but as far as being more physical in coverage, I agree with you. Cyrus was our most effective CB, primarily I think, because he was able to get his hands on WRs in the 5-yard zone (and sometimes beyond) and takeaway their rhythm. I remember in the Iron Bowl, he was very physical with Duke in a key play late in the game (Malzahn was pretty pissed PI wasn't called, but the ball was deemed uncatchable)...was surprised how he handled him as he gave up so much in height and weight...

Yep. Cyrus really excelled at jamming at the line then hand-checking down the field enough to disrupt timing but not quite enough to draw a flag. I'm sure that's something opposing coaches will be asking the refs to look for this year

The five yard contact rule does not exist in college football.

Physicality in tackling has nothing to do with coverage. Cyrus is more physical in coverage (he's a more natural CB) however, Eddie Jackson is more physical tackling.

I am truly surprised people aren't completely in agreement there. I mean I can point out multiple times Eddie came up and made a vicious hit. He seemed very comfortable when the ball was ran to his side. Very much a head-hunting CB.

He transitions well to safety and will as well at the next level. This move is the best for Eddie, because he wouldn't make it as an NFL corner.
