That's a more solid statement than you might have thought. Stanford has 36 varsity sports. 36! They operate 20 women's sports. UK has a total of 21 for both genders.

WTF is Lightweight Rowing? I imagine they regularly have an NC in that. Stanford has won at least one NC for the past 38 years and the Director's Cup for 20 consecutive years.

The Director's Cup is meaningless as long as this kind of disparity is allowed to exist. There should be a set list of sports that are counted towards winning the Cup. They should be the same for all schools participating.
