Hopefully these don't frick up the game like the new bats did years ago.
If we didn't switch to new bats, UGA is the 2008 CWS champ.

The new bats started in 2011.

I believe there were different bats introduced in 2008 as a trial run. I think.

They were still using -3's in 2008.

When was the trial run, 2010? That's what I'm seeing online, then the schools that contracted with them were released from using them in 2011.
I'll stand corrected, but I could've sworn they were in 2008 as well.

I think it was 2010. It definitely wasn't 2008 though. -3's were still used in 2009 when LSU won the CWS.

The 2008 bats were good. You just lost is all.

Our coaches are saying the same thing. Hopefully it will start going far enough to see some HR's at TD Ameritrade. Watching the College HR Derby a couple years ago there was f'ing pathetic.
Also, it's not just the batters and the distance being impacted. Pitchers have had to adjust to the new seams. It may make it harder for some of them to put spin on breaking balls, but it could lead to more movement on two-seam pitches.

I'm ready for them Diamond Dawgs to dominate now.

Nike has been haunted by allegations of inferior products in college baseball for the past few years. From Ohio State to Georgia, coaches have second-guessed and called out their sponsor's bats.
In 2008, the Bulldogs did everything short of blaming its Nike bats for losing the College World Series to Fresno State. In an all-access interview with former Georgia star Gordon Beckham, the CBS cameras caught a pile of Nike bats in the corner of the dugout, beaten and discarded. In a video still circulating online, Beckham deadpans, "That's the way the cookie crumbles - literally."

Sooo, there was an issue with us and Nike bats in 2008.

Not sure why it took them this long to make the change but I'm glad they did. I'm expecting power numbers to get back to the '09-'10 levels. Not gorilla ball, but a happy medium between the two.
The past few years have been frustrating, not because of the low scoring, but because even if you were only down 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth you didn't feel like there was much chance to tie the game up with one swing.

I could be wrong but weight to length ratio of -3 has been around since the 90's, and they're still using -3. The change was made to BESR and BBCOR to make them less hot. They first made changes in '09, those were about perfect. And then again a few years ago to the dead bats they use now. But there still -3.

When you say BBCOR and -3, anyone who knows anything about baseball knows that you're talking about 2 different bats though.
