I think many posters would like it we if could have the ability to Private Message another poster or posters.
The ones who don't like it could have the option of turning off private messages, or blocking users, or report it if they are whiney bitches.
Thoughts?

I've always wondered why it wasn't available on here, but I assumed the admins had a reason. I'd support if it they wanted any feedback from posters.

I'm surprised they still don't have especially since they have the ticket boards

That seems like more work than necessary for the users. On many forum/board/social media platforms out there users can private message.

Support. Mainly because it'd allow me to let folks know they have access to the A&M board or not (without posting it on this board).

You can PM when you upgrade to premium membership.

This is a brand new topic that has never been discussed on here, nor could other discussions with answers be found if you were to google for them. I'm sure since you brought it up now it will make Chicken realize what a fool he's been for creating a forum without a private message feature.
But it definitely has nothing to do with wanting to keep everything posted on the boards, instead of lost in PM's. Which may or may not lead to more page clicks and more intrigue on the site. And it also has nothing to do with admins not wanting to be bombarded with PM's from users.
Ya know, I bet this would actually be a successful site if it had a PM feature

Well, thanks for not being a dick about it.

I have no doubt that this has been discussed many times, and that the admins have talked about the topic many times. They haven't done it yet, so they have their reasons.
If they don't want to get bombarded by requests, they can create a feature/code to block PM's (Unsubscribe from Private Messages, if you will.)
From my understanding, page views wouldn't come into play, b/c if they own the domain for the PM's, they would still get the hits with people PM'ing each other.
I never insinuated this wasn't a successful site, I simply think a PM feature would be nice...outside of those with Premium Membership and I think there are many people that use this great site that would agree.

It'd be a headache to monitor (which someone would probably have to do just for liability sake). The idea has been suggested ever since I joined, and well before I'm sure. They seem firm on their stance.

I just don't see the point in it. It would almost surely be used for stupid shite like backchanneling, sending nudes, talking about other posters on the site, etc. Probably less than 5% would be legitimate type info exchange (IRL meet ups, ticket sales, etc), which can easily be done through email anyway.

Not like any of that happens here anyways.
eta: If you want to msg some one, find them on twitter and slide into those DMs. Most of the regulars have secr twitter acts.

Yeah, I don't mind that S.O.P. for folks who use the site regularly--if they truly want to join the discussion, they'll check back.
It kinda sucks for those not familiar with the site's protocol, though.

Private messages generate almost zero revenue. Cost/benefit analysis suggest more posts to be most profitable.

Maybe, I'm not familiar with how PM's impact pageviews/clicks/etc on Alexa or similar site ranking system.
However, I would think there's an opportunity cost associated with having people divert traffic/attention from this site to go to another site (like twitter, gmail, ymail, etc...) to communicate with other members.
