Why would anybody ever sign to a school because of an assistant coach? I know these kids are young and inexperienced but almost all of them have some parental guidance and should be able to show them that assistants typically don't hang around for several years at one program

I get it and agree to an extent but you are somewhat commited to assistance if you are a QB or Rb or WR. I mean if we ran a full spread and fired the OC and went to a 2te power running game then if I was a WR or QB that may be a deal breaker.

I know that's the extreme and not going to happen here but as a skilled position guy you have to have that in mind.

Ha. Not under Saban.

Most head coaches are gonna stick with a certain scheme. Les miles is not gonna break out the spread HUNH next season or any other season

Not that it means much, but one of the Maryland writers CB'd Mack Wilson to Alabama today.

Do you hear yourself? We have a top 5 class what the frick are you bitching about and we aren't finished yet.

Can you honestly say that you're excited about who we have in this class right now especially compared to other years? Let's not talk about who may or may not join our class from now until February. Right now the class is somewhat underwhelming. Just like our 2010 class was underwhelming.

We haven't had one "holy shite I can't believe we landed ____" recruit this year as we have in previous years.
We started out this class with two studs. Both decommit.
We have pressing need at DE and are offering three stars in December.
We appear to lead for Little, and then OM happens. I'm excited about Jonah williams and Baldwin, but I would have preferred taking Little as well.
We finally have a kicker that we are excited about. Oops.

But if the coaches are more focused on coaching, and that translates to a national championship, then I couldn't give two fricks less about where this class finishes.

I think this is what is most concerning to me. With the number of players we are likely to lose along the defensive line, I would have thought we would be doing a lot better at that position. Really feels like we've lost a ton of recruiting momentum at the moment.

I know you wasn't responding to me but I'm not as excited about this class as I am the 2008 class or several others but it's a great class.

Yes we just lost a kicker and Little, but it was just a kicker(potentially great kicker) but I ain't melting over a kicker. Little sucks but we got two other tackles and CRob. Little wants guaranteed starting LT spot day one. And the two guys we lost I have already forgot who they were, but I don't keep up with recruiting like I used to.

Recruiting is fine.

See, I disagree with you here.

My "Holy shite" recruit is Jonah Williams. He has one parent who went to the Barn, another went to Georgia and he's from California. How in the hell did we land him?

Yeah we had two or three studs decommit but two may end up back in the fold in Demetris Robertson and Shyheim Carter.

Well we have two of the top 5 performers at the AL-MS All-Star game committed at DE spots in Williams and Davis. Say what you want about Davis potentially going elsewhere, but right now he is ours. And that 3-star we offered yesterday is legit. He had 20 sacks this season playing big boy football in Louisiana.

Little may be great or he may be a dud. He didn't even play LT until this season. Ole Miss is going to be in a world of hurt if they need him to start from Day One. He's no Tunsil or CRob.

As for the kicker situation, Pineiro is like Little. He could be an amazing kick off specialist and a terrible under the pressure FG guy. We won't know how big of a loss he is until next season. At this point I would still take Griffith over him. He's found his confidence and boomed some clutch FGs for us since October.

That's the spirit.

I think he's referring to Robertson, Carter and Benito Jones. However, we've lost a lot in this class so I could be forgetting someone.

When Ben Davis commits, it'll all be okay.

I just don't look at early commits as losses if they decommit. I remember being in Jr. High and having a Forest Davis recruiting mag and most guys didn't commit until signing day or right before.

It's not just Davis. We should, big emphasis on SHOULD, land around 7-8 more studs before it's all said and done:

Ben Davis
Mack Wilson
Nigel Knott
Cavin Ridley
AJ Brown
Terrell Hall
Mykel Jones
Ahmmon Richards
Jean Delance
Derrick Brown
Dontavious Jackson
Jeffery Simmons
Nigel Warrior
Demetris Robertson
Shyheim Carter
Mecole Hardman
Devin White
Keith Gavin

We have CBs for all the above.

I used to watch the Tom Lemming show for recruiting news.

Yeah I was thinking Jones and Robertson.

It's hard to believe we've only had one 2016 recruit commit during this season, and now he is wavering.

I just looked at our numbers again and we have 10 spots left, not 7-8.

January is going to be fun as hell.

Do you think we sign 27?

Yes. We are losing 29 players after this season. It's been years since we lost that many.

I think he means we won't get that many players to commit at this rate. Which may very well be true.
