Make marriage a social/religious only event. Eliminate all tax breaks and credits for the sake of being married. Individuals can hire lawyers and work out details concerning power of attorney in the event of illness/death, disbursement of property due to same or separation, etc. Would eliminate tax burdens on all citizens, foster an increase in private employment and eliminate yet another class warfare argument.

eta- And if it makes you feel better, you can still have a marriage license. Just wouldn't have gov't intervention in other areas of your life, just because you have one.

So you want to eliminate the marriage license for everyone and just make straight and gay marriage a social event. Well that's fair, now go make a thread and talk about you wish to strip the marriage license from heterosexuals since that is your main goal here.
