shite! this would make me livid!
Butch and co. Are fricking up now! 2 weeks before signing day?!?
On the positive side, he knows what they're all about, and he didn't have to get enrolled to find out.

Between this, losing their OC, and now Azzani is being rumored for the coaching job at Central Michigan. Get fricked.

I feel like this is a story every year with some team or another. It never seems to matter.

I don't know this guy but it would be fun to offer him. You can be guaranteed he'd go OFF at least one game a year

It happens, but Jones definitely didn't handle it well. The player visited UT and then three days later, close to signing day, he got a phone call from the position coach telling him the offer was pulled. Apparently that was his first indication to look elsewhere. That will be noted in HS coaching circles and Butch Jones can't afford many more gaffes like this.

How dare yall speak poorly of the greatest 12-13 SEC coach in history.
To hear the Vol fans you would think Richt was under .500, getting dominated by his rivals and Butch was on his way to surpassing Saban.
The fun reality to point out to them is that Butch Jones has a losing record at Tennessee (0-2 vs. us) and Richt is 10-4 against the Vols. We own their arse.

Even a brick shithouse is still built brick by brick

This sort of thing goes both ways. How many player's have backed out of commitments on NSD ,with little or no warning? It's a shitty deal, but without an early signing period, it will continue to happen. Not condoning it, just saying.

Speaking of early signing period...ESPN reported awhile back that the NCAA was close to having one for next year. I believe the date would be in mid December. I had a thread about it awhile back..
Bumped the thread in case anyone wanted to read the link

I'd like to see a continuous signing period, beginning with the end of a player's junior year in HS and ending with the end of his senior year in HS. If a player signs and the school accepts, then the school is bound to honor the obligation as long as the player meets the terms of the agreement, eg on track to qualify academically, no arrests, no suspensions, etc. The player can decommit only in the case of a coaching change at his position or head coach.
It wouldn't be popular but it would help kids focus on something besides playing the recruiting game their entire HS career. And it would stop schools from hanging a HS kid out to dry who committed in good faith and kept up his end of the contract.

A commitment is non-binding, a scholarship offer should be conditionally binding.
Without a revelation concerning character, grades or legal issues a scholarship offer accepted in form of a commitment should be upheld, and in the event the school wants to pull the offer in favor of a more talented prospect then the NCAA should penciling them with a loss of a scholarship the following year.
A kid decommiting isn't going to be the difference between a school continuing to have a football program, but dropping a kid on his head this far into the process could be a reason he doesn't end up in a positive situation football wise. Not that going to a school that doesn't want you but is obligated would be a better situation would be much better.
All the guidelines concerning offers and commits should benefit the student athlete. Schools do not have to accept commits on the spot, and they would need to be more selective and cautious when it comes to recruiting. It's getting a little out of hand as is.
But Butch Jones is an a-hole! And to quote Tyler, "Get fricked!"

This is just facts of life when dealing with a school that is doing their best to optimize their roster. If you are a recruit and see a lot of competition on said team for your position, you best be looking for another team unless you are the best of the best.

I really thought UT was on the right track with this guy especially after our game but after that shite show of a game vs. Mizzou I convinced that UT and Butch have a ways to go.
UT was completely unprepared for what Mizzou was doing with their D-line stunts and were clueless when it came to making any type of in game adjustments.

Well they've got help coming in on the DL front for sure.

That is standard operating procedure for the BAMA schools.

UT? I was talking about Mizzou's D-line.
UT's O-line was horrible that game and you would've thought late in the season that they had jelled a little.
