Oregon wide receiver Darren Carrington Jr. missed the College Football Playoff championship game because of a failure to abide by an "NCAA policy," which was reportedly a failed drug test. In the days following Ohio State's win in North Texas, Carrington's father reached out to the media to try and clarify the situation.
Darren Carrington Sr. told CSNNW's Aaron Fentress that the Oregon wide receiver was in the room with others who were using marijuana, leading to secondhand smoke that triggered the failed drug test.
I haven't heard this discussed much but Oregon was a much different team with him sitting out that game.

Carrington's absence felt particularly big after a late-season emergence that saw the Ducks wide recevier total 291 receiving yards and three touchdowns in wins over Arizona and Florida State.

Carrington Sr. says his son tested positive for "15 nanograms of THC per milliliter of blood" when the drug test was administered the week of the Rose Bowl. According to CSSNW.com, those levels could be a result of secondhand smoke or marijuana use within weeks of the test. The NCAA threshold for a positive test used to be 15 nanograms of THC per milliliter of blood before it was dropped to 5 nanograms in August 2013.
If he would have been in that first half catching all those dropped balls the other guys were missing coulda woulda...

Wouldn't have helped their defense one bit.

Didn't realize this guy could help on defense.

First-you for believing the report (about 2nd hand smoke)
Second-the writer for printing it
Third-the kid...he had to try some excuse.

OSU was scoring every single time they got the ball (minus the occasional turnover), running at will.
Oregon wont he turnover battle 4-0 and still lost by 22.
They were lucky they didn't lose by 50.

Its definitely a shame he missed the game, but it wouldn't have mattered much anyways.

If their uniform pants get any shorter they might as well wear biker shorts. Somebody is gonna sue when they lose a kneecap.
