Would be kinda hypocritical to kick one woman beater off the team a week after they let another one enroll in school to play football...

Ryan Anderson's charge isn't for beating a woman. I've seen it explained this way:

quote:

Hear are some general legal definitions that will help everyone understand the charge:

Criminal Mischief means he damaged property valued at less than $500 dollars.

Domestic Violence means the property belonged to his wife/ex-wife, girlfriend/ex-g/f, parent, child, or household member.

Bottom Line: He was not arrested for hitting a woman.

It doesn't matter that he didn't touch anyone. The name of the charge will influence people's reactions.

Hate the news for the girl involved (even if it was simply her property and not her). Don't like the PR hit it gives the University.

That said, one thing that has been clear to me over the years, rival fans will gloat. It almost always comes back to bite you though. Someone from your school will be arrested too. I remember the gloating of some bama fans when AU had the felony five in 2011. A year later Bama had 4 arrested and kicked off team, too. Seemingly happens to UGA every year also.

Actually, I think criminal mischief 1 is property damage greater than $2500, cm 2 is property damage between $500 and $2500, and cm 3 is property damage not exceeding $500.

Here he is charged with committing either cm 2 or cm 3 and the victim is a spouse, former spouse, parent, child, baby momma, present or former household member or someone he has or is dating/engaged to.

Then why wasn't the charge for Criminal Mischief and Destruction of Property instead of Domestic Violence?
