Also bs'd about the coaching carousel and the bouncy ball thingy our men and women try to play from time to time.

Hey TBird, that link doesn't work for me like the previous Fightcasts. The rest went to a Amazon hosted mp3, but this link doesn't.

This is why ppl don't believe I'm from TX
At least Stryker can lean on the fact that he's actually from up north

Thanks T-Bird, you are good people too.
I do disagree the playoff cheapened the regular season though. We went from having a pile of teams having a good season (everyone winning a conference, everyone in a BCS bowl, and the two in the title game) to now four teams have a good season. With the death of that BCS bowl level tier now the air is thin at the top, but everyone is so obsessed with the playoffs just being a co-champion of your one true champion conference isn't enough anymore.
In the BCS days and before it was so random to win a national title so no one counted on it as a way to judge their program. Michigan's highest regarded coach was huge on this idea, maybe because he never won one. Back then conference championships matter more. Now it's playoffs or bust unless you are a program whose ceiling is a bowl. Not only does this make it so that most seasons of most top programs are unsatisfactory by definition, it completely blocks the Boise Sts of the world because with only 4 spots who wants to share?

I hear ya. My mom (Michigan alum, as you know), actually says the same thing--the rush to crown a true national champion has devalued the accomplishment of winning one's conference. She can't remember who was named AP #1, but she remembers the years UM won the Big Ten. I can definitely understand that side of the argument as well.
I will say, this, though--as huge as CFB is now, I don't think it's fair to expect it to have continued to be so regional in nature. And tbh, I felt that the drama produced by having a 4 horse race for the big dance instead of two gave more teams something to chase--seemed the drama was compelling right up to the various CCGs.
Idk, I guess there's never gonna be a system that placates everyone, though. And that's ok--win, lose, or draw, CFB will always have the most passionate fans in sport, IMO

Its weird because if you go back and look at past games from the early 90's you can see people used to care deeply about winning the SWC to get to the coveted Cotton Bowl. People used to take bags of cotton during the texas game and throw them in the air if the Ags beat Texas and secured the SWC championship.
In our time in college, the cotton bowl was usually considered a consolation prize. Its weird to think college football used to be so regionalized.

Yeah, it's just a foreign concept to us now, especially the younger set.

You just have that military neutral accent. It's not a bad thing.

Just some council from an older guy, ditch the HNIC and NOAH in the radio gig.

Upvote for the Don Williams reference.

Thanks for the advice
Probably gonna drop the HNIC, but keep the NOAH. Just because it works as a pun for the Ark and all.
The acronym can remain an inside joke

Yeah
I was using hnic for a while when I was first on the site, but honestly I like noah better.
I'm a sucker for multi-layered puns/movie references

NOAH......Ark......I'm an idiot for not seeing that one hidden in there

But HNIC is as racist as it gets, I still know old bigots over 70 that use it. I hate the N word it is offensive to me. I know some of the younger generation has embraced it but many may be instantly turned off by it. Not everyone knows you for the cool guy you are

I'm not gonna lie. I use the N word, but only with old high school friends that I see from time to time and that I know its socially acceptable to use with. (And NO. Not the 'er' version, but the 'ga' version.).
I went to a hoodlin High School...

Thinking back, I wonder how t-bird would have reacted the day I met him if I said "'sup, my ***ga"???

I love that line. Even my dad, who hates country music, laughs at it because, well, it's true.
