chavis is a capable DC; maybe very capable even. so you guys got a good one. to be a very good hire, y'all are gonna have to recruit DL and quick as I don't see chavis in the "game" much longer.

your defense should improve over the life of his contract and maybe improve a lot; therefore sumlins goal will be reached.

that being said, the last 3 years we at LSU have seen average defenses under chavis. why? there is much speculation why but what we've had the last 3 years is poor athlete selection in the front 7 (or poor development or both). the stats on his D rankings are pretty much bull shite. when it came to playing good teams chavis defense the last 3 years just couldn't get it done. the proof of that is as fresh as 2013 when his D lost us every loss we had (with the possible exception of ole miss).

that being said, the man didn't deserve a raise BUT LSU still offered him a four million dollar contract. that's not chicken feed and was in the top 5 or so of college DC's in the country.

last comment is that fans usually don't know shite. don't know shite about the workings of an athletic department or shite about football. most especially the fans that post on message boards.

See, this is what I am talking about. To an A&M fan this is crazy talk. I mean, how is the Clemson game on Chavis? I lack the perspective as an A&M fan to understand.

To me, if the OC didn't score at least 30 points and we lost the game it is his fault period. Anything more than 30 and I can understand. Of LSU's 2013 loses, in one yall scored more than 30 points.

Granddad, normally your "sober LSU fan" act is welcoming but I need a little hyperbole if this conversation is going to get fully fleshed out. It is time for a real talk, the statute of Chavistations is over.
