I've always liked Narduzzi. I'm still in shock its Chavis. Not only is he a very good SC with a huge pedigree by name, it certainly damages LSU in the short term and presumably in the long term. Icing on the cake.

Narduzzi would have been a home run too. But strategically there just isn't a better move than Chavis. He not only gives us a huge boost, he is a massive statement, and he knocks down a rival all at the same time.

I'm not convinced he's the best DC in America, but there is no denying, it's a brilliant hire.

Chavis makes such a bigger statement to college football, recruits in our region, and our conference especially.

99% of the recruits we have offered know who Chavis is because LSU is recruiting them also...this isn't just a homerun hire for us it's the hire of all hires.

We weaken a divisional rival and strengthen our defense and recruiting base.

This is what has me most excited. I just wanted the best hire, but man does this help our clout from a perception standpoint.

Yup.

We'll see how things turn out, but from the perspective of right now, there literally was no better hire we could possibly have made. How many other times have we done that? Bear Bryant, Pat Henry.... Jackie Sherrill maybe?
