There is definitely major tension between the football program and the athletic department. That has been the case for years, but it seemed to escalate when Pruitt called out the AD on the IPF deal to the media. I'd be surprised if CMR walked away, but it's possible.
A few things from a very well connected guy on a UGA site:
1) Mullen would not be McGarity's guy for the same reason he was not Foley's guy. McGarity and Foley were at UF together during the Meyer years.
2) McGarity does not have the support of the boosters and should probably re-evaluate his tactics.

I wouldn't be so sure. I know dan Mullen from Reynolds plantation and I am telling you it is his dream destination. I actually think it would be a great fit. He may be exactly what the georgia program and fans needs after sleeping through the richt years. I'm pretty sure he has not signed an extension with miss state. If the job is open and offered he will 100% take it.

Only 2 Boosters or families matter.
