You asked for thoughts so I gave you mine.
Market and Cox being out is the reason that JT is at safety. He will be back at OLB (Wells Position) next year. Walley haha. The backup center was our best offensive lineman and we were playing Texas A&M. Glad you didn't argue Richie Brown being the same.
Sorry you are so mad bro.

I think Richie has the potential to be just as good, which was my point. I'm not looking at game 1, I'm assessing where they could be this time a year from now.
See above. I used that to compare Green and Wells, but my general assessment is the end of next season. Hard to argue that they will all improve over the course of the season, my judgements were by where they could be by this time a year from now.
It's cool if you disagree, but you can't argue that we are upgrading from a raw talent standpoint at every position listed with exception of LB.

I don't even think you know the point you are trying to argue. This thread is titled 2015 which means immediate. Then you say on down the line they will be better and in one post you are arguing NFL potential.

AJ Jefferson will probably replace him. I figure Calvin will see a lot of playing time too.

Yeah that is the biggest question mark IMO. I do think Ryan Brown is going to surprise people though, maybe that will help offset the loss of Preston.

Brown was the second best DL we had this year. No one should be surprised by him....
Need 3 of AJ/Calvin/Coleman/Harris/Dale to step up...

What is up with Jake Thomas? I remember people being really excited about him and he is never mentioned.
Edited to add: I know Thomas is OL and a switch from your topic but I was thinking about overall team depth.

Yeah there's just no way to say improvement or not on most of these. One thing i would never say is that anyone at all will be an improvement over Wells. I have no idea why recruiting stars are mentioned. I am more excited about next year than i thought i would be though. I asked Santa for no more Holloway hb dives next year.

So what you're saying is every single starter on next season's State squad is either as good or better than this season's?
Posted on 12/23/14 at 11:38 pm to Tds & Beer
Yeah my Wells comparison was under the assumption that we fill the spot with a true LB. We will see how it all pans out. He is one of my favorite players, he is an odd piece though and I don't think it's something you try to duplicate.

Offense:
I'd say slight improvement.
We can only hope in this scenario that Clayborne can play equal to Day. Even though Day was a 2* he is still wayyyyy ahead of Clayborne at this point.
Not even close to the same in my opinion. Everyone's going to realize how valuable Johnson was this coming season.
Defense:
Calvin / Coleman - Can only hope for the same. Probably a slight drop off.
No. Wells was easily the most valuable player on our defense this year. Even above McKinney. I expect Green to play MLB behind Richie anyway. He may play here some, but I expect someone else to play here, let's just hope it's not Jackson full time. Now with the change in scheme it may go back to being a regular outside LB, so you may be right projecting Green here.
Overall:
I expect the offense to be about the same, which is fine, because averaging over 500 yards of offense and 37 ppg is pretty impressive.
Defense has to be improved slightly I would hope. I can't imagine we give up more yards, but may not be as good in the red zone, 3rd down conversions, and completion %.
quote:
WR: Gabe Myles (returns) - Likely replaced by Donald Gray. (Big Improvement)
I'd say slight improvement.

C: Dillon Day 2* - Replaced by Jamaal Clayborn 3*(Slight Improvement)

Wells caught Collins, of ArKansas, from behind, or we're in BIG trouble in that game...

AJ Jefferson will be starting, he had more TFL than Kaleb Eulls and Chris Jones.

Yeah I forgot about him. You'll likely see a combination of the 4 (Calvin, Coleman, Jefferson, and Brown) all the time though.
I would assume they'll all play about the same amount of time.
Now that's given we still do the same types of rotations. It's so hard to predict what's going to happen without knowing who the DC will be and what kind of schemes he uses.
ETA:
Just because he had more TFL than a couple of DT's doesn't really mean that he will start, however. Calvin was a stud in JUCO and Coleman is a speed rusher. Very different types of players.

I think you need to take the maroon goggles off. Im all for being optimistic, but its way to early to write in Desper and Clayborn as improvements to Beckwith and Day.

Clayborn isn't gonna be a Remington Finalist next season
Yall will be good again next season though

What does that last quote have to do with Desper?
Posted on 12/24/14 at 6:47 pm to DynastyDawg
Fixed
I was thinking about Desper because apparently he's also gonna step right in for an All American and be better by season's end

He looked great when he stepped in this season. Our OL look better than they are because of our offensive scheme and because Hevesy is a bad arse.
