there has to be a breaking point eventually
It will come, and it will be in the form of whatever court case enforces that players get a significant part of the TV revenue. Until then salaries will keep going up.
In fact, EVERYONE right now except maybe Sumlin is being underpaid when you consider what the SEC Network is work.
Be looking for a the first $2 million coordinator to be in the SEC, and to happen sooner rather than later.

But who deserves that sort of salary more then Chavis?
I mean honestly, the man has ruled the sport for years. Yes, there are some games you can point to and say he should have done X, Y, and Z. But year end and out he has been excellent.
Arky fans love our DC and what he has done to turn around our program. Chavis has done that for years.
Consider how bad the LSU offense was this year, and think about how many games they won. Given a decent offense LSU is THE team going into the playoffs to beat.

So, he will be HC when Les leaves for Michigan next week?

A good line but I don't think Miles wanders North. He is older then he was, he has a good pond to thrash around in, and his family is happy here. Could he move up to Michigan?
Well if they drop the numbers they are talking about then sure.
But I think Michigan is looking for a younger coach that they can lock down for longer then Miles could commit too.
Could he make Michigan an elite program? Well he probably could. Would he care to invest the time and effort to do so? I think no.

Oh, if anyone "deserves" to be one of or THE highest paid in his profession, Chavis absolutely fits the bill; however, I don't believe assistant coaches should be approaching $2 million salaries. I also don't think head coaches "deserve" the kind of money they're making. I can see the argument of what the business of college football has become and how much more money is being made; however, I do not believe coaches are actually worth the amount of money they're being paid outside a select few. They just happen to be thriving in the current landscape where ADs are being more or less forced to pay outrageous amounts of money just to get a semi-competent head coach.

But Aggies from Texas are very familiar with 12th place.

Miles is nearly 60 years old. He's won hardware that most coaches could only dream of, and he's made boat loads of money doing it. I just don't see why someone in his position would even care to start a rebuilding project, even if it is at his alma mater, and this is even assuming they pay him more than LSU would. It's not like he's underpaid at LSU and/or needs the money.

Right, why would Chavis or Miles go wandering when they have a great situation as is?
Yes, every time they lose then folks on here will talk about what complete tossers they are.... but no one really wants to get rid of them. I suspect LSU will challenge for a natty in the next few years.
That is said with the admission I've lived off the meltdown of the Pigs shutting out LSU this year.

John Chavis is the only thing keeping Les Miles afloat right now.
Well, that and a loaded roster ready to roll for next year.

I don't think the PR office of the A.D. has confirmed this have they?

And Frank Wilson, but for those two Les would have been gone years ago.
