I'd like to see him in a Cardinals uniform one day.

Maybe when his price tag comes down and isn't attached to a draft pick.

Not likely as long as Scott Boras is around to overprice his market.

It isn't happening anytime soon.
To much $ and goes against everything the Cardinals preach re payroll.

I want him, but we don't need him.

I'm more worried about the number of years he wants than the $$$. The club knows how much $$$$ they have. What they don't know is if Scherzer will stay healthy long term.

Remember when we would day dream about Mark Buehrle this way? Doubt Scherzer will ever be a cardinal. I think after david freese they realize a hometown guy is presented with too many distractions.

I would go batshit crazy if they signed him. I don't give a damn about the money. it is not my money and the Cards have plenty of cash. As for the draft pick compensation-that is fine too. The odds of drafting a player that good with the pic are not good anyway. How many Cy Young pitchers has Mo drafted? 0

I hear ya. That's why my only concern is the number of years. Pitchers are going to go down. Big numbers for a shorter number of years isn't going to cripple you if Scherzer goes down. But if you sign him for 7 years and he goes down in year 2, then those big numbers might become a big factor in that they prevent you from getting someone else. No problem with the big money, just shorten the years.

Even the Yankees said he cost too much.

Not gonna happen.
And not sure he'll age well anyway.
Good luck to whoever signs him for all that money.
Can't believe Mark Buerhle has never been a Card after being open about playing here at a discount. Guess it was never the right time for that to happen.
