I'm not sure what you are claiming the advanced stats do, but stripping anything of opponent strength exacerbates the problem, it doesn't fix it.

That is, if strength is a boon to LSU, which it is, eliminating it from the consideration makes the problem worse, not better.

They basically give certain stats a weighted average.

Hold Oregon to 2 YPP is worth more than holding Western Carolina to 2 YPP using formulas and such.
